I have been here several times for lunch, perfect for that time day all the food is 'home cooked ' and prepared while you wait, always delicious, also combined with the village shop, well worth a visit, I shall be returning soon.

This shop is lovely and the staff are friendly. I had one of the cornish pasties and it was lovely. It has everything you need.

So I'd set out on my bike and here I was 50 miles later and feeling in need of replenishment when this little cracker of a cafe came into view. Its a village shop, a delicatessen and a cafe all rolled into one. Lots of home made goodies were on display both savoury and sweet. I was served by a... More

Wonderful corner shop with a difference! Small annex informal cafe area, with free wifi, well patronised by locals and visitors alike. Lovely breakfast - long menu, but happy to accommodate any variation. Locally sourced superb ingredients, lovely friendly personal service. They do top-quality outside catering as well, which we had occasion to sample - just as good!

The Strand is one of our favourite cafes as they have got everything right. The food is delicious and freshly made, there's a good choice on the menu plus specials, the ambience is friendly and welcoming but you're left to enjoy your meal in peace, the furniture is mixed and matched (not sterile and corporate), the background music is great,... I cycle past quite often and today, on a sunny September Sunday, I stopped for a coffee and a sausage sandwich. The place has a lively and friendly buzz, the coffee was excellent as was the sandwich. It is clearly a popular place with locals and cyclists alike and if you are ever in the area I would urge you... More

We live near the Strand Stores and like to walk the dog up the Beacon and then stop by for lunch or tea. The avocado and feta salad is our favourite and we rate the chunky chips as the best in Devon. The coffee comes in steel cafeteires, to keep it warm which is a nice touch. Just one time... More

Passing through en route to M5. We noticed this little place. I recall this shop about 15 years ago as a local village store. This cafe is so reminiscent of the little gems you find in Spanish villages when on holiday...quiet but serves 'oodles' of locally sourced foodstuffs. Had ham eggs and chunky chips. I suspect that the chunky chips... More

Thanks for the fab review, and great that you have found us! Our ice cream is brand new so its great to get a review that mentions that. We hand cut our own chips everyday, and everything else except the bread and the ice cream is homemade. Thank you so much for taking the time to review us, I loved... More

I have been here several times with my family and the food was excellent this time, as always. I think it may have changed hands although this hasn't affected the menu. But I have dropped a star as when I have been on my birthday a couple of times previously it was acknowledged by the staff. Some hostelries offer a... More

Thank you for taking the time to review us and we are so pleased you enjoyed your food and sorry the experience wasn't as special in terms of service as other years. The business has not changed hands but we as owners are not always there as our opening hours are long... we do have a great small team of... More

This is my local stores/cafe but is well worth a visit for anyone in the local area. The cafe uses fresh, local produce cooked to perfection. I love walking down with the dog and stopping for a coffee or quick bite. It really is a place to visit and sits right next to the river Culm in our beautiful village.
