We spontaneously popped on for a cheeky Friday evening out with family, making the most of a beautiful evening. We had drinks and four meals. The food was exceptionally quick and tasty. The service friendly. I had the chilli con carne which was hot and fulsome. My wife went for a simple chicken burger which is supposed to cone with... More

Popped in a few times over our holiday for an easy dinner option, as it was one of the only places we could find on short notice that did some decent vegetarian options. There's a wide range of food, from plenty of types of burger to grills, curries, sandwiches as well as typical pub food. All of our food came... More

We visited here because it was dog friendly. The food came up quick and was ok for typical pub food. The staff were nice enough but not wow factor.... but it does what it says on the tin. Good honest quick pub grub

From the outside The Boathouse looks a fantastic modern building and inside lives up to the expectations. Great tasting food with lots of variety on the menu. The portion sizes are of a good size and the service was very prompt. The staff were very friendly too. Not too keen on the dogs which are allowed inside, although for dog... More

Went here while on holiday. Great location for a pub and good play area for children. But honestly the food was so poor. Expensive and poor quality. Children's dinner was fish fingers which had loads of fat ooze out and raw carrot sticks..accompanied by again deep fried smiley faces. The pubs food needs to be bought in to the 21st... More

Dear Jen N, Having read your review this morning we are left feeling rather disappointed. You did not express as to whether you ate yourself or just had the children's food. We are sorry that it appears your child's dinner was not to your/their liking. It would appear, from your description, that it was overcooked and we for that we... More

We came here as a family on the way back to our accommodation, it's set in a good location , there's plenty of food choice on the menu (although we never ate here so can't rate the food ) , it's dog friendly , there's a small play area for children in the upstairs area , drinks were not too... Good location on Dawlish Warren and good food too. Always decent quality and tasty food. Typical pub food menu with a wide choice of favourites. Well worth a visit.

The Boat House Tavern is something of an oasis after a long trek, either from Dawlish along the sea front or from the caravan parks - as long as you're not looking forward to a pint of Guinness, which they don't sell! They have Murphy's, but it really isn't the same. The staff are friendly and the pub is comfortable,... More

Dear JackinKent, Many thanks for your honest review, thank you for the positives. (sorry about the Guinness situation, I keep trying to get it in here myself!!) We sincerely apologise your food was not to your liking, I am unsure as to whether you were offered an alternative or a refund as your review does not state this. It is... More

Lovely food and a good play area for the kids. Lovely decking for drinks in the sun but very overpriced. I had a ham baguette with REAL crisps £7.95 .... the crisps were the brand "REAL" and were even still in the bag. My friends had chips with their meals but they were oven chips ... paid upwards of £12... More

Dear Nia B, Thanks for your review. We are sorry you did not find your meals as good value for money. I fully understand your feeling on the crisps and perhaps our menu text is not as clear as it should be. It has always been felt that having the crisps in the packet was a little quirky, particularly as... More
