We've been coming here for some time for their Sunday carvery. If you are a bit of a glutton, this is heaven. A wide choice of meats and veg plus accompanying sauces - oh and don't forget the puds! Good value for money, friendly staff and a unique venue. We are bound to be back again. Yum yum. P.S. The... More

Found on the internet whilst staying in Sacombe and unable to book anything in town and what a find! Great food and a very friendly atmosphere. Great choice on the a le carte menu with a carvery as an alternative. A definite booking when next in the area.

Well there is quite a mixed bag of reviews for this quaint and charming 13th century Devon church house standing as it does close to, and parallel with, the old village church. Having recently received a couple of 'terrible' reviews due to poor service and a booking mix up perhaps the owners are being more careful this autumn… not that... More

Having tried to eat there twice and told sorry we are full.on the 3rd time having booked a table we were told HE had made a mistake and booked us for the following day. Then there's nothing I can do. What about moving people around or trying to fit us in seeing that it's YOUR mistake, but no. You would... More

My parents introduced me to the Church House as it is by far their favourite place to eat in the area. I have to say I agree with them. If they're serving the Dime (Daim?) bar dessert, order it!

We ate here with friends on Thursday night and we all agreed it was one of the best meals we had ever eaten. Two of us had the carvery and two had the salmon. The carvery exceeded our expectations, being deliciously well cooked and well presented. We both had the rare beef (there is a choice of well-cooked if you... More

We tried to visit this pub on three occasions during our 1 week stay in the area. On the first visit, we were told that there was no room, but we didn't mind as it was Saturday evening and we hadn't booked. However, no mention was made about recommending we book. On the second occasion we still hadn't made a... More

Have been coming back to the Church House Inn for a few years and have to say that this was the best visit yet. Upon arrival we were dealt with quickly and took our place in the restaurant. We have had carvery before but tonight we were going from the menu. Not wanting to fill up too much on starters... More

This is an old 12th or 13th century church house with bags of character and history. Look out for the glass floor over the well as you enter. Had the weekly carvery meal. All three meats, beef, pork and gammon, were beautifully cooked. The range of vegetables was extensive and also beautifully cooked. The desserts of white chocolate and raspberry... More

We went on a Wednesday night, so did not expect to have to book ahead, but the place was rammed which meant the food took a while to arrive. When it did, we were impressed with the quality. The menu was varied and interesting. The interior of the pub was pleasant. Dogs are allowed in certain areas. I would go... More
