Visited because our first choice was shut on this particular evening...looks inviting from the outside, a typical country pub/b&b. Food was, at best, mediocre.....fresh from the microwave! However, the service and the ale was good. As long as you have no high expectations, and want food to ''plug a gap'', then this place will suit your needs

This establishment has a Caravan Club CL site attached and we have used this a few times on our way south to Cornwall. This makes for a very convenient evening meal. The food is not fine dining but enjoyable enough and of pretty good quality. Not somewhere that I would drive miles to but the convenience makes it for us... More

Stumbled on this place on a Saturday night, famished and after a long drive from London, and wished that we hadn't. From the outside, it seemed welcoming, with a large carpark in front and at the rear of the restaurant. The small restaurant had a bar area and space for about 6-7 tables. Looking through the menu, there was an... More

Often visit for lunch mid-week or Sundays, Food always good no complaints . Midweek there is a set menu at reasonable price with plenty of choice , although you can still use main menu if you want. Parking at front or large carpark behind , well worth a visit

We arranged to meet and catch up with our friend at this restaurant over a spot of lunch. It was a lovely Saturday afternoon and the sun was shining. Graham , the owner greeted us with his unmistakeable smile . We opted to sit outside under the gazebo, taking in the fresh air and enjoying the warm sunshine. We ordered... More

This was a case of attending a group booking - so not a case of me hearing it was good and an individual preference. I knew beforehand that it was going be more than reasonable in that I was joining a dwindling band of aircrew veterans and their wives. They have given up formal meetings in favour of keeping up... Popped in to the Poachers Pocket for a meal one evening following a recommendation from friends - it was fantastic. The owners were very friendly, the food was delicious and there was lots of choice and variety on the menu. It was obviously a very popular pub, a lot of the other customers seemed to know the bar man and... More

We sat in the bar area the seating was not comfortable - had no choice as restaurant full A lot to choose on menu but all what you would typically expect with little imagination for something a bit different What was served was barely average & waited some while to be served Draught beer was well kept Disappointing

Popped in for lunch and the 2 courses for £8.50 (3 courses for £11.00) option was very good value. Home made soup was superb with very nice fish and chips. Friendly barman and waitress. Proper old style pub. Very nice real ale. (I thought my wife's G&T was a little expensive?). Would recommend for anyone passing on the A38.
