Stayed two nights in Anstruther at the waterfront hotel which was fantastic. We had previously booked the Cellar restaurant well in advance as it is quite small. The food was one of the best meals my husband and I have had in a very long time. We went for dinner and had the set menu, three courses for £48. per... More

Visited for lunch today. Michelin star food over three courses for £28 per person is amazing value. the lunch menu comprises 3 choices for each course. We started with one beetroot and gouda dish and one crab dish. Wonderful, fresh and a taste of things to come. (Forgot to mention the tasty AmuseBouche on arrival...) Then for mains we had... More

Booked for lunch today, been a long time since last visit and had heard good things about it. Started off very well. The canapés were delicious. Bread lovely. Starter of Crab was yummy, but sadly it all went down hill from there. The lamb main was a mixed bag. Lamb was cooked nicely but had little flavour. The separate slice... More

The Cellar restaurant, long recognised for good food and dinning ambiance in Anstruther, has under its new ownership finally achieved a Michelin Star, something that (in my opinion) should have happened 10-years ago when we first dined there. A lot has changed in the 10-years except, I glad to say, the quality of cuisine. We were a group of four... More

I have to admit that I have been a bit disappointed with fifes Michelin restaurants. The peat inn didn't quite hit the mark and sangsters (now shut) was a long way short of Michelin standard. But the cellar I'm glad to say was well worth the visit. The setting is stunning, as the restaurant occupies a building which is hundreds... More

This is a better restaurant than you might expect to find in a back street in a Fife fishing village, but is it worthy of a Michelin star? Sorry, but my answer has to be 'no'. If the benchmark for a Michelin star is The Peat Inn 10 miles up the road, then The Cellar is not in that league... More

This is a truly first class restaurant. Food and service were excellent. Billy Boyter, the Owner and Chef, is a truly gifted young man. His menu offers a delightful choice of starters, followed by an excellent choice of main courses.A lobster starter was enjoyed by all. Hake was my choice and my friends enjoyed the Lamb which was served just... More

We had visited the Cellar several years ago, under the previous ownership and had a very good meal. We tried again a couple of years ago and it was closed! We heard it had reopened, under new ownership (from good linage), read good reviews so we though we would give it a try. First impressions were good when we walked... More

Heard great things about Cellar - from other Scottish restaurant owners - and not disappointed. A surprise was the price of the meal at £ 48. This is by far the cheapest Michelin starred meal that we have eaten and it was excellent - in particular the lamb main course dish which was wonderful ! Matching wines and excellent service.... Description
Small unique Scottish Restaurant tucked away just off the main street in Anstruther. A historic little restaurant in the heart of the East Neuk. Was once used as a store by fishermen for there fishing nets. And also used as a smokehouse and cooperage. It was converted into a Restaurant over 40 years ago, and is now owned by local Chef Billy Boyter and his family. The Restaurant also has a small bar selling locally produced beer and a good selection of Scottish Gins and Whiskies.
