Stopped for lunch and a dram and were treated to delicious food and wonderful service. It was by far the best meal we had on the island. The cod special was amazing--tender fish surrounded by mussels, mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables, herbs, and a tasty sauce. Our waiter took great care of us and treated us to drams after we... Our lunchtime waitress at The Lochside hotel recommended that we plan for lunch at The Old Kiln Café after our tour of the Ardbeg Distillery. We were really happy we took her recommendation! The food was fresh and well prepared and the vanilla-honey cheesecake with Dark Cove whiskey sauce was a great ending to a very good meal!

Really nice place to have a break in that part of Islay. The food was nice, service friendly and they also have a broad range of Ardbeg whiskies.

This was one of the best lunch spots on our distillery tour. The fish pie and steak pie were both appreciated!

Visited mid October on a Monday and the restaurant was full! it has about 100 covers! Anyway it was worth the wait and I would recommend the Haggis, neeps and tatties in a 'Uigeadail' sauce - it comes with a dram of Uigeadail! Delicious!

Went here with friends because of the good reviews we read on TA. The distillery site of Ardbeg, where the Old Kiln is located, looks pristine and is very well maintained. Having seen more than enough distilleries already, we decided to just have lunch here which turned out to be one of the best decisions made during our trip. Well... More

Great place for lunch while waiting for your tour at the distillery. The food is good and you can have some drams while you're having lunch!

When planning a distillery tour make sure to leave time to eat at the Old Kiln. It is one of the best restaurants on the island.

We visited all three distilleries (Laphroaig, Lagavulin and Ardbeg) and had been told in advance that Ardbeg had a great cafe. We were not disappointed and would highly recommend it for anyone doing the same route.

We had lunch here after the full tour & tastings, the food was very good, the staff nice as they found the time to briefly chat with the guests but still provide quick service. The place was busy but they had ample people attending the place so there were no long delays. If combining two tours in the same day... More
