As new visitors to Dolgellau, we wandered around, looking for somewhere to have lunch, and unfortunately chose y Sospan. Menu looked ok, but the food was awful. The 'special' shepherd's pie had overcooked, dry tasteless mince, mixed with what i think were chunks of odd coloured lumps of sweet potato with a sprinkling of grated cheese. It was not a... More

The food was varied and catered very well for children. The waitresses were friendly and made it a special evening for my daughters birthday with a cake and candle.

We dined here with other family members the evening before a family wedding, having traveled some distance to Dolgellau . We have dined here in the past, but it must be over 3yrs ago and enjoyed it which is why we booked to a table here again. Unfortunately things have changed and not for the better. There was a leak... We visited here for our first evening meal as part of a weekend in Dolgellau and it as awful to put it mildly. My first impressions of the restaurant and building were good and it has an interesting history to it. However soon after being seated upstairs I noticed water was leaking through the ceiling behind my head and it... More

I had the shepherds pie and it was very nice also the casserole had good reports. We sat by the window looking out into the square it was a very pleasant evening... More

Lovely old building, that's about the only positive thing I can say. Booked table for six, long wait for drinks, longer wait to order food..asked if we could order food only to be told by a very obnoxious lady that she ( the waitress) would take it soon. Eventually ordered, another long wait for food. Meals were mediocre for the... More

Visited for a family meal booked in advance. Arrived on time ordered 3 steaks, 2 salmons and a pie. No one fancied a starter so just straight to mains. No one realised we would have to wait 1hr 20 for a main. When it arrived all steaks were over cooked to what was ordered with soggy chips. Pie had a... More

Looks like a rather dark tea room, but the food is excellent and plentiful. You may need to book as they seem to be quite busy.

We had a good evening meal here. An extensive menu, fresh and tasty ingredients and good presentation. Whilst there were six other tables occupied service was good.
