We visited on May Day and seeing a few tables marked as reserved asked if there were tables available. We ordered the roast beef, from the limited lunchtime menu of few choices. Our meal was very tasty, well cooked and presented. For dessert I chose 4 layered chocolate cake and thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. Definitely worth a visit... More

Went here for a birthday meal as we had heard good things about it locally and we were not disappointed. There was a good choice of dishes, both trusted staples and some that were a little different. We tried two of the latter and both were excellent, generous helpings, cooked to perfection and delicious. Also some lovely home made deserts,... More

We booked for lunch and it was bloody awful!! My wife had prawn cocktail to start and the prawns were hard and had a chemical taste, I had pate or more locally known as dog meat. The children had 4 child roast dinners some of the beef was nice but most resembled rubber. Veg was over cooked and very salty.... More

Called in here for food on the off chance, it's not far from where I have recently moved to and often as I've drove past on the dual carriageway to Newport I've looked at this place and thought it was inviting. The staff are very friendly and can't do enough for you, the venue itself is clean and tidy although... More

We've been calling into the Somerset Arms since August 2016 having just moved into the area. Every time we visit there a lots of improvements with the decor of the pub. The food and beer are great, Jen & Rob are so welcoming and will do anything to make sure your visit is a good one. I love the fact... More

Visited Sunday with family. Heard good reviews having been taken over with new owners. Lovely welcoming staff. Didn't have to wait long for food to be served which was piping hot freshly cooked and plenty of it. Came with lashings of gravy and all the trimmings. Will definitely be coming back. Excellent value for you money! Thank you

Arrived at the Somerset arms a little after 1.30pm (early for our 2pm booking) no problem at all as we were welcomed and seated promptly with a drinks menu. Drinks orders and brought to the table (lovely waitresses/staff) we all chose beef with Yorkshire pudding which was a great choice and the vegetables provided were all fresh and piping hot.... More
