Went for food here didn't find the meals over lovely chips were dry & meat tasteless . I had a pint of lemon&lime tasted awful staff wasn't happy about it but did give me a Coke that tasted fine. Wouldn't go there again .

I like the feel of this hotel. Very cozy on a bleak winters night. My wife and I spent one night here and I have to say that the food was very good. We had a steak meal which was very well cooked and plenty to eat too! The staff were very helpful and polite which was nice. The room... More

Staying for 2 nights in Aberdovey we stopped for lunch here on the way, having stayed at this hotel previously a couple of times. Really old hotel and with the large restaurant now a "lounge", we had a reserved table in one of the cosey front dining rooms with a lovely log fire. Had to ask for a menu after... More

We had some very good meals at the Wynnstay. Three of the party had sirloin steaks which were cooked to perfection and had a very nice flavour in fact some of the best steaks we have had in the UK recently. The lamb and mullet were excellent as well. Overall a lovely dining experience in a convivial atmosphere with the... More

Went with friends on a rather bleak evening between Christmas and New Year. We were made welcome and enjoyed the Cader Gold real ale in a pleasant atmosphere. Varied menu and the food was pretty good. A solid 3 star.

We stayed the night there and entertained our family to dinner at the hotel. The hotel reopened recently after being closed. The general ambience was lovely though to sustain high end and attract business customers away from the country house hotels it really could use an expensive refurbishment programme. That said everything worked, and for the record the famous Machynlleth... More

Thank you for your kind words. Our Malbec is by far and away the best selling wine we have. I am sorry it was not to your taste, but had we known at the time, we should have changed it. Our house wine in bottles is actually 1 Litre, so one third more than a normal wine bottle. All our... More

With no menu we rang to order a pizza. Asked for a meat feast...the young lady didn't understand and put us through to the Manager of the hotel. We were told they don't have a "meat feast on the menu". We asked for a pizza with pepperoni....silence......a pizza with meat? They could do that. What sizes do you do.....tbe response... More

I do not know who you spoke with, we must apologies if we came across as arrogant. We have never had a "meat feast" on our pizza menu, nor have we ever heard of one in many, many years in Italy. Our pizzas are made by experience Italian Pizzaioli. This "meat feast" is probably an Americanism. Peperoni is meant to be... More

Ate out with my father in September 2016. Lovely atmosphere, food and service. Fresh bread brought once ordered. Kids menu is spot on. Really enjoy the side vegetables which come with the meal. The Cwrw Cader (locally brewed ale) is to die for, and I don't usually drink ale so that is saying something. Thanks for breathing life back into... More

The hotel is old and very historic, but the food was fantastic. A drink in the lounge was a great start to the evening. Then the food was top drawer, with very good staff.

This is a lovely old hotel on the high street whose owners, Charles & Sheila, ran it for many years and then moved to Italy. However, on hearing that Wynnstay had closed earlier this year, they returned and are breathing new life into it. We were initially drawn in by the candlelit exterior which was a pleasurable contrast to the... More
