Hot food served cold on cold plates is the sign of a lazy kitchen. It was a busy Friday evening and service was slow. Not a problem as guests our hosts and ourselves had much to chat about. The first course of goats cheese soufflé,...seared scallops and steak tartare were enjoyable and no complaints. The issue came for the main course. having waited for three quarters of an hour again no big issue for us but was a tad too long. When the meals finally arrived my pork - a special - was cold on a cold plate. My wife’s Bouillabaisse was also warm not hot again in a cold dish. I asked our hosts if it was alright to point out to the waiter about the cold dishes - the answer was ‘Yes’. This was not to ask for a discount/refund it was to make the restaurant aware. I subsequently told the waiter. He attitude came across as arrogant, a quick begrudging apology followed by a stinging rebuke for not telling him earlier so that they could have done something about the problem. he has a point but that was not the way to present his solution. To have a meal returned and heated would have meant we sit there whilst the other members of the party eat their meals - not conducive to an enjoyable and expensive meal. Following this ‘rebuke’ from the waiter we heard nothing further - customer care. ZERO.
I did find it ironic that the crepe Suzette I ordered came with much alcohol on board so that when the waiter lit the dish as is traditional the food wa temporarily very hot, I am sure i saw a rye smile on his face! The crepes were terrible thick and rubbery. The other three desserts of Chocolate marquise, 2x ile Flottante were given the thumbs up.
I know that the restaurant has a good reputation as a french food establishment. There is a good vibe, by an large the waiters are professional and attentive but if the kitchen makes a mistake they should know how to handle the customer however busy, however long their day might have been.
