Went last night to 21 in double bay. For a Monday night it was packed. I'm told it's like that every night so you need a reservation. We started with some glasses of prosecco then some Hungarian fry bread with garlic and sour cream and...More

We stopped in for lunch knowing nothing about its hungarian heritage or historic decor. We sat outside on a warm day so cannot comment its rustic interior. Service was swift and friendly. The menu only hints at its hungarian roots, and is extensive. I guess...More

Hi Marcus, We couldn't be happier than you happened upon us! Glad you liked our salads and burgers. Maybe next time you'll have to try one of our Hungarian specialities. Hope to see you again soon. Warm Regards, Anika Schiffer

The old favourites never cease to amaze us. Transylvanian Cabbage done to perfection, as usual. The creamed spinach is to die for and the potato, oh so soft and creamy. Friendly waitstaff and the the young manager makes visiting this institution of Double Bay a...More

What a wonderful friendly experience in this nostalgic restaurant. Whilst sitting and looking at the menu we noticed the size of the meals was huge. So to boost our appetite we started with an Aperol and soda water. The wine list is very minimal but...More

Twenty One is a historical place. The food is average but there is an atmosphere there. The place is in urgent need of renovation. the carpet smell and the tables are sticky and old.

Double Bay
Located in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, Double Bay is a
one of the city's most beautiful harbour
neighbourhoods. Designer boutiques provide a decadent
shopping experience and dress some of the most
beautiful people in Sydney. Sit down at one of the
open air cafes for a latte or a meal and enjoy the
people-watching. Double Bay was once an exclusive
enclave for an older, elite population, but new

Twenty One (21) Espresso is one of Australia's oldest restaurants, founded in 1958 by John Schiffer - Father and Grandfather to the restaurant's current owners George and Michael. Twenty One was the first restaurant to introduce European style dining to Australia in the form of outdoor seating and also had one of the very first espresso machines - hence the inclusion in the restaurant name. Today, you can find traditional Hungarian and European dishes on the menu, whilst dining in a comfortable and cosy setting with warm and attentive service. The restaurant is open all day every day, should you feel like just popping in for a coffee and cake and to soak in the atmosphere.
