We dined at High Point for the first time on a very cold evening. We were quickly seated beside the firelace in a small cozy room. There were several gluten free selections on their menu; I chose the scallops. They were cooked to perfection. I also chose the cheese grits which came out cold. The server quickly brought me a... We moved to Monteagle a few years ago and were used to eating at nice restaurants in big cities. Since it is a very small town, we were thinking our dining selections would be limited. Some friends recommended Highpoint and we are delighted to have this so close by. The atmosphere is charming in this historic mansion, the service is... More

We have eaten at High Point Restaurant 4 times. Each time, the meal has been excellent and the atmosphere relaxing. The prices are a little high - entre prices around $35 but that includes soup or salad and a side. The soups have been great, salads fresh, steaks and fish always good. Cocktails excellent. Our wait staff has always been... More

Love this place! Took me some time to get over losing Pearl's but thank goodness for High Point. Food is excellent; prices are very reasonable and the service is consistently great. Anytime that I am at Sewanee or even just passing over Monteagle, I must stop in. They also have some outdoor dining in their garden.

Our party had steak, steak and shrimp and pork entries. All were excellent. Service was great. Plan on spending $40+ per person.

Went to High Point for a special family celebration and did not disappoint. From appetizers to deserts it was fabulous. I was surprised at the variety and unique offerings on the menu. We had scallops and pork belly starters that were so good we knew the rest of the meal would be fabulous. Recommend anything on the menu. We were... More

This was Al Capone's old hide out yet there is no information about it at the restaurant. They did not even mention it until we asked about the history of the place. The food was good and had a very nice variety of choices. The service was good and friendly I would suggest reservations since this seems to be a... More

Its a bit pricey but I've never had a bad meal here. On special event weekends you'll need to make reservations far in advance. Make sure you get here at least once before you leave the mountain for good.

Thank Kathleen A

Built inside a 1929 mansion that presumably once was financed by Al Capone, the restaurant serves a menu of traditional gourmet dishes including Brie en Croute, Blackened Salmon Oscar and Black Thai Duck. The mansion that houses the restaurant was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997 and still features the original escape hatches and underground tunnels that were used by Capone to transfer liquor during the Prohibition Era. In 2001, High Point received the "Best Gourmet Meal in Tennessee" award from "Tennessee" magazine.
