This was Al Capone's old hide out yet there is no information about it at the restaurant. They did not even mention it until we asked about the history of the place. The food was good and had a very nice variety of choices. The service was good and friendly I would suggest reservations since this seems to be a... More

Its a bit pricey but I've never had a bad meal here. On special event weekends you'll need to make reservations far in advance. Make sure you get here at least once before you leave the mountain for good.

This is Monteagle, not New York. I couldn't believe the prices on this menu. This is a wonderful old mansion they've converted to a restaurant and there are so few decent places to choose from in this rural locale, that I wanted to like this place and support it. And it is good. But 30 and 40 dollar entrees are... More

This restaurant was excellent. The service, the food and the charm of the place was first class. It is nearly worth flying for 20 odd hours from Australia to visit again soon. Food wise it was the highlight of our four weeks in the South. We were surprised when we got the bill that it was so reasonable. Thank you... More

We were staying in Monteagle and this was recommended to us. The old house is really neat, very nice place to hang out for a while. The food was okay but for the price we expected better. But if you're in Monteagle, it's probably worth trying!

A 20th anniversary should be marked in a very special way. Having just returned from a big trip, a weekend getaway didnt appeal. Neither did a visit to a local chain restraunt. Have always been curious about High Point in Monteagle. So after reading very mixed reviews, I checked with a friend, who loves it, decided it was perfect if... More

After hearing from locals about how good this restaurant was, my wife and I decided to give it a try. While they food was ok, it in no way matched the level of pricing. Our server didn't seem to have a clue on what was going on. When we asked questions about the menu, it was met with blank stares.

We've been here a few times before including once as a party of 8 who spent >$1200 on wine and food. On previous visits the food was good and so was the service. This particular time, we mistakenly arrived an hour early for our reservation for a party of 6. No big deal, we could have just come back at... More

Description
Built inside a 1929 mansion that presumably once was financed by Al Capone, the restaurant serves a menu of traditional gourmet dishes including Brie en Croute, Blackened Salmon Oscar and Black Thai Duck. The mansion that houses the restaurant was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997 and still features the original escape hatches and underground tunnels that were used by Capone to transfer liquor during the Prohibition Era. In 2001, High Point received the "Best Gourmet Meal in Tennessee" award from "Tennessee" magazine.
