My husband and I had lunch here today. I had the fried catfish sandwich. Nicely fried and a huge filet. Had to fold it in half to get it to fit in the bun. My husband had the country fried steak dinner. Also good and he raved about the fried squash. Service was good and food was prepared when we... More

This place is under new management. The new people that own this place have terrible attitudes, they were arguing in the kitchen. The service wasn't good and the food wasn't good and cold when served. I will not eat here again and it's sad that I paid for what I did get. Also a young couple with babies came in... More

I love places like this - it doesn't look like much from the outside, but nice on the inside with great food at good prices. I had some excellent catfish - lightly-breaded, flaky and delicious, served with fries, two hush puppies, and some coleslaw. My wife had the loaded baked potato with pulled pork - that was too much food... More

Monterey is a little mountain town of less than 3,000 at the top of the Cumberland Plateau on I-40 at Exit 301. There are a few fast food restaurants in town, near the interstate, and then there is Rocky Pops situated in an older house across from the only hotel in town. We were told by several local people to... More

We had a great time here, really enjoyed the food and service! It's a small restaurant. We were a party of six, but they made room for us. My wife had the slap-yo-mouth sandwich, the kids chicken and shrimp, and I had the catfish. Everything was cooked and prepared to perfection! We finished with slices of pie peanut butter for... This is a small restaurant run by a man and his grandson. I loved the food. I had Brisket, baked beans and Potato Salad and all were excellent. The Mac and cheese was also great. My meal was priced at 10.95.

This small restaurant looks like your aunties living room - including a carpet and very comfortable chairs. We tried their brisket and fried shrimp dinners - both were fresh and tasty. Make sure to try slaw and potato salads - they are amazing I would gladly come back when I'm in the area.

A Retiree and his grandson have had this little hole in the wall place for five years. I got fried shrimp and they were fried good and crisp. They didn't taste greasy at all. Hushpuppies were very good, but at least give three. Slaw also was good. My husband got the sliced pork and I couldn't believe how much he... More

Friendly, casual atmosphere. Pop and his grandson make the best hush puppies and fry the catfish to perfection. They open at 3:00 PM.

Back on a road trip, you hope you discover something that is local and interesting. I think this place qualifies. Conveniently located to an exit and across from a fast food establishment, this place offers an alternative. From the outside, it would like the food is home made. They offered both barbecue and fish options such as groper and flounder.... More
