Was recently in Nashville area on a business trip. We were looking for some place to grab some lunch, one of our co-workers asked if we liked BBQ. He told us we should try Willie Mae's in Springfield. This is the kind of place I love to find when traveling, an independent hole in the wall off the main drag.... More

I visited Willie Mae's because it was suggested by a local business owner. They highly recommended the BBQ beans. A local lady in front of me in line recommended the mac and cheese. I ordered brisket with BBQ beans and Mac and cheese. Everything was great. The brisket was the the definite highlight. It was tender, and oh so tasty.... More

Like others said the hours are spotty. It says 12-4 but that should have an asterisk. They sometimes will close for weeks or months so it's best to call. But enough if that. If you get here while they're open you won't be sorry. The food is awesome and we'll worth the price. Some say the prices are high for... More

I do not normally like Pork BBQ at all.....but I will say the BBQ at Willie Mae's was not nearly as greasy as most, and did have a good flavor about it.....but then again....I prefer BBQ Beef, but those of you that like pork bbq might just think this is the bomb!!

This place is a hidden gem in downtown Springfield. You can tell by the smell they know what they're doing.

Oh. My. I've eaten "real" Texas brisket in San Antonio and Lubbock. This makes you want to throw rocks at it. It's hickory instead of mesquite, but there are not enough superlatives for this stuff. It will ruin brisket anywhere else for you for the rest of your life. This is death row last meal good.

Closest thing to true Texas brisket. Delicious, juicy and tender with several sauces to choose from at their vintage inspired bbq joint. Don't expect to walk in and expect standard fare because it is all about the smoke!!

This is some of the best barbecue that I have ever had, but you absolutely come out of there smelling like smoked pork so strongly that it lasts all day and all of your co-workers will smell it. It is like they have no ventilation at all. They are hit and miss in being open. They often close for an... More

It has been said that good things come in small packages. They surely had Willie Mae's in mind. From the outside this doesn't look like much but once you are inside you will find it very pleasing. Decorated to appeal to Bluegrass and Country Music devotees. Guitars, mandolins and fiddles along with antique auto tags on the walls. The beef... More

Great staff. Great small town feel. Best BBQ in the state and you'll smell like it for the rest of the day to remind you how good it was.
