Okay, I'm partial because this was my daughter's favorite breakfast hangout when she worked as a nurse at UTMB until Hurricane Ike. We love the Surprise breakfast taco. It's huge and worth the $4. Owner Gloria is on scene and keeps things going and the coffee is good. This is where the locals go. While I didn't see it this... More

Friends took us here on the way to the port. The building is a hole in the wall. It's small inside so getting a table can be tricky. But once you sit down the food is amazing! Wonderful salsa and homemade flour tortillas. The food is all handmade. And very cheap!

True Mexican food!! The salsa was yummy and the staff was nice. Don't let the building scare you; it looks rough but the food was good!

We eat here every so often when we are on the Island. This place is a hole in the wall hidden gem. The service can be a bit slow at times but if you know that going in, you won't be upset. The food absolutely makes up for any problems with the service, if there are any. I always get... More

This is a great little Mexican eatery. I have only been for breakfast on the weekends. I always get a breakfast burrito (great value and are huge!: I take half home for later). Also, they serve amazing giant pancakes that are not on the menu... you just have to ask for them! Barbacoa is also delicious! Coffee is decent. Generally... More

My family loves this place. The surprise taco which is more like the size of a burrito is good. Have been there many times and it's consistently good.

The building doesn't look like much but, don't be fooled. We ate here on a Sunday morning. Pleased with everything at the table. I got the Sunshine Giant Burrito and it was delicious. Best homemade tortillas I've ever had. Try to get there before 10:00 am or it will be crowded.

Service is still good but the cleanliness of the restaurant has really gone down hill. It is located in an old building across the stree from Galveston city hall and was good about 3 years ago but we all know time marches on.

Like others here, we've been eating here over ten years. Had breakfast there yesterday morning; huge breakfast burritos all around. They tasted fresh, came out hot, and the tortillas were soft and fresh as well. Service was good. The place is a dive, so don't expect much in the way of atmosphere.

It's very disappointing to see a local favorite over so many years become really poor. For years we would come for their outstanding breakfasts....big, fresh, and cheap...and their daily lunch specials. Now the service is non-existent, the tortillas hard as a rock, the beef and chicken in the lunch specials of very poor quality. I recommended this place to so... More
