I've been eating here for the better part of two decades. Probably my favorite Tex-Mex on the island. Nice staff. Spacious dining room (if a little noisy when busy). Good for families. I just wish they still were open for dinner like back in the "old" days.

Excellent Mexican food, very authentic and fresh. Pastor tacos are the best. Quick and friendly service.

My sister says the quality of a Mexican restaurant can be determined by the quality of the shrimp cocktail - and if that's the case, then this restaurant is just o.k. The shrimp were tiny cocktail shrimp, most likely previously frozen. The rest of the food was good, not great, except for the taquitos, which were hard and dry.

Everything was tasty. They even made my extremely picky Aunt happy. I had a cheese quesadilla, my aunt had the cheese enchiladas, my husband and son had the fajitas. My husband said the fajitas were good but the bell peppers could have been a bit softer. To me this also wasn't great but the chips were good. The restaurant smelled... More

As close to authentic as you can find. The location is a bit tricky to find but once you're there, the food is great. Inexpensive, great for families, and good service.

My husband and I ate lunch at La Mixteca and enjoyed it tremendously. I had the Enchilada's Verde and it was SO good. The salsa is also wonderful though it was a bit hot for my husband (more for me!). I highly recommend this restaurant.

We had not been here in a long time but decided to try them for breakfast. Their nondescript location in an industrial location should not deter you. The restaurant is clean, service is very good and the food is some of the best taquiera food on the island. I had traditional huevos rancheros, partner had migas. Both were bargain priced... More

Maybe it's just me, but it's those 'hole-in-wall' places that seem to garner my attention more than the big fancy, franchised places. I was directed to this well-established place by friends who are also lovers of this cuisine. I have a weakness for menudo which not all Mexican restaurants have, even on the the traditional Sunday menu. La Mixteca not... More

This is a gem in Galveston and is mainly a locals place. But if you can find it you will be very happy! The chips and hot sauce are addictive! I always order a ground meat burrito Grandote. It comes with a side of rice. It's around 5 bucks for a GREAT MEAL. The atmosphere can feel kind of hectic... More
