Visiting Houston and some local Chinese friends took me to Rice Bowl. This was a great eating experience and having lived in China and traveled to Indonesia before was so happy to taste something so authentic. The restaurant is very clean and the service was just the right amount of time between dishes. All the dishes we tried were delicious... More

I have been here several times and always order the garlic chicken that comes out with 2 large scoops of white rice. Once the food is delivered to your table you are pretty much on your own and have to refill your own tea and water or grab a soda and take it up to the cashier to pay for... More

On a blustery day, a bowl of Rice Bowl's hot and sour soup hits the spot. Huge portions of everything meant a bunch of take-home containers. The egg fu young is terrific, very fluffy with a tempura-like batter on the outside.

The place itself is nothing to write home about it. As a matter of fact it's almost too plain to even look like a restaurant. You'll see a lot of customers just coming to pick the food up instead of eating there. My wife is half Indonesian and grew up in Jakarta and Borneo. I myself didn't know what to... More

This is a place to satisfy your hunger with good food for reasonable prices, but don't expect a fine dining experience. It's a take-out place where you can sit down and eat your take-out food if you want. You place your order at the counter from either the Chinese or the Indonesian menu. I recommend you ask for the Indonesian... More

This restaurant is still my favorite for this area. I regularly get the Special Fried Rice. Excellent service! The atmosphere could use a little touching up, but it's worth the stop.

I lived in Holland for almost 15 years, and loved eating out at Indonesian restaurants, ordering a rijstafel for several people, it was always an awesome occasion, very good food and always made everyone extremely happy. So it was a joy to actually find a restaurant which cooked such fine foods. and with a cheerful aplomp. This is an unpretentious... More

I've already been to Indonesia and Malaysia. If theres a dish that I love, it is called nasi goreng and I can say that the one I had at rice bowl is(literally) thousands of miles away from the real thing. Living in Houston since 2013, it was hard to find this Indonesian restaurant which I truly believe to have some... More

This is the place we go to when we miss Indonesian food in Houston. We love the fried fish with belacan sambal, the chicken noodle, gado-gado (Indonesian salad with peanut sauce), Indonesian fried chicken and rice. We never tried the Chinese food there but a lot of people said it's a good one as well.
