For years I've wanted to eat at Uchi when I lived in Austin, but I don't believe in extraordinary lines despite how amazing food might be. Didn't want to fight the crowds when Uchi opened here and forgot to follow through, so it was incentive and a thrill to find a deal through Amex for a discount with qualifying amount.... More

My first visit to uchi left me feeling underwhelmed, as it was happy hour and I did not get the full experence. The second time, I got a reservation and ordered the chef's choice which was a much much better option. The preparations were immaculate, tasty, and creative. The service was very attentive and on point with recommendations. Would dine... More

My first experience was at Uchi in Austin, so expected a lot more. Just ordered the Kappa maki and the cuts were uneven and had to ask for wasabe. The worst sin was the rice was hard and the nori soggy...might as well have gone to a Kroger for this level.

a little noisy but you will get things here you won't get anywhere else! The short ribs, the strip steak and the Hirame sashimi are just unique and superior. The tekka maki is fresher and more tender here than I have found in my experience. And to make the experience more fulfilling be sure to order the Asahi Beer and... More

I visited this restaurant for a special occasion. I'm not big on raw sushi, but I tried the tuna roll and another I ant recall. The Brussel sprouts were amazing! I know that sounds odd, but they were. The tempura is also great! I tried several specialty drinks, which were good, but I settled on wine most of the evening.... More

We only had one night in Houston, visiting a friend and he took us to Uchi. He didn't realise I don't like sea food so was a bit concerned but we ordered lots of meat and veggie dishes which were absolutely incredible! All the meat melted in your mouth and tasted so good! My fiance insisted I tried the fish... More

We went in a group of 4 (all vegetarians) and we tried almost every vegetarian item on the menu. I cannot clearly which one was better than the previous one...that wouldn't be fair since they all were so superb! every item was so different and presented very well, and the taste palate was commendable! hands down best place!

I've been here multiple times and the one thing I can say is consistently amazing. Which is really hard to achieve. I've never had a bad meal at this place and each time was a completely different menu.

This place is too pricey for me for dinner, but their happy hour is great. I went with a good friend and we just told the waiter to keep the food coming (very small plates) until we were full. He somehow timed it perfectly, even though we were getting plates from at least 5 different waiters. It was excellent.

This is definitely a must go if you're in Houston. Don't expect your standard Japanese sushi rolls though. This place is modern and serves the best seafood very cleanly. Special tip: go during happy hour to try smaller dishes for more variety!
