We had a pre-theater dinner at 17. I love pretty places, so this was a treat just to look at the floors, chandeliers, chairs, and general decor. Very glam. We were the only people in the restaurant....and it was the temperature was very hot. We asked three times for the a/c to be turned lower and it just didn't happen.... More

My wife and I ate at *17 before going to a show at the symphony down the street. Service was very good here. The first thing the waiter asked us was if we had plans that evening. When we said we had a show, he promptly provided the wine list as well as their traditional menu. Our reservation was at... More

Beautiful, quiet and intimate restaurant with excellent food and wine selection. Small enough that there is little foot traffic and noise and you can focus on your date. Our food was very fresh and cooked perfectly.

The food is fresh and served first class. I have eaten there for breakfast and dinner and it was perfect both times!

We suffered through a very noisy dinner, the restaurant had a party of about 50 people, expecting fabulous food. The food was just average. I had the scallops they were fine but for the price you should expect great. My husband had the fish special which was small, bland and $33. I can recommend the octopus salad, the jalapeño dressing... More

Went there recently and had a really good meal. This place used to be top notch but has been going thru a rough patch over the past 2-3 years. There was a new sous chef and he was working wonders. I did not have it but several of our party had the Steak Tartatre and pronounced the best they had... More

The feast prepared by Chef David Coffman was exquisite. Scallops over black rice was a real treat. Will definitely be back!

Ate here 3 days ago. The food was OK, although the butternut squash ravioli was over wrought. The evening started out horribly though. I walked up to the desk, stated my name and reservation time, and was told that they didn't have my reservation. After a great deal of back and forth, with me asking whether or not they could... The worst. We were passing through Houston from Austin to Florida by car and staying at the Alden Hotel which houses 17 on April 27, 2010. It was a total waste and disappointment for our one dinner in a city known for having many, great eateries. I am waiting for this restaurant to close. It should. It was empty except... More
