we enjoyed a half veggie and half meat laden pizza. We had the NY style, hand tossed crust. Both of us were satisfied. The veggies were excellent. Just the right amount of cheese, not overbearing. Several local beers available. Good service. Plenty of parking which can be a bit unusual for the Heights area.

Family restaurant that is great for small or large gatherings. Not fancy or glistening but, the best homemade pizzas the way you want them. Appetizers are terrific, like the hot goat cheese with hot Italian Bread. Your fingers will help you scrape out the dish as the bread is long gone. Our family had Mother's Day at this location yesterday.... More

Fresh ingredients, Best Pizza in Houston! Deep Dish non greasy pizza with fresh veggies. The taste can't be beat. It's Pizza Heaven. Remember to allow 30 minutes for the cooking of deep dish pizza. Please put one in Katy or Sugar Land! I can only enjoy when I am in the city,

We have been eating Star Pizza for more than the last ten years. It is simply the best pizza in Houston. Very crowded on Friday nights but they do have carry out (which is what we do on Fridays when they are have a long waiting outside by the lockers to sit down). The Margarita and Joe's in Chicago Deep... More

Always love Star Pizza. Arrived too late for the buffet. Ordering off the menu there were loads of great pizza options. Service was friendly and unobtrusive. Superb late lunch.

I will drive from energy corridor to get this pizza. Simply the best around town. I wish that they would open another location in the energy corridor or Katy area as I am sure it would be very profitable!

They have a good buffet for lunch which is why I end up here sometimes. It's close to work and easy to get to. The food is above average and reasonably priced.

Today we ordered a pizza for delivery as we have done for many years. Unfortunately, it is becoming a common occurrence that the delivery time is over one hour. The person taking the order should have been honest enough to say that the pizza was going to take over an hour to deliver. Then it would have been up to... More

Star pizza is my go to pizza joint since its close to the heights. This is the only pizza that doesn't hurt my tummy. The cheese is perfect & not too gooey & I love that they use fresh ingredients and make everything from scratch. I always order pepperoni, bell pepper & onion. You can't go wrong with an old... Description
In the summer of 1976, Henry "Hank" Zwirek and his buddy, Ed, both native Chicagoans, grew tired of living in the windy city and relocated to Houston. Hank realized the burgeoning city lacked high quality pizza and delivery service (which was a norm in Chicago). Acting on Hank's instincts, the two purchased a quaint two-story house on Norfolk and in October of 1976, a Star (pizza) was born.Business continued to thrive and Hank was eager to expand. In the summer of 1988 a second Star was born, affectionately named Star 2. The offspring of the original was located at 140 S. Heights Blvd. in the building that's now home to Chatter's.The original Star is still located in the house on Norfolk, and continues to offer the same homely atmosphere as it did in 1976. To this day the Zwirek family owns and operates both locations and thanks their loyal Star Pizzanites for their support throughout the years.
