Hi, Born Irving Community Hospital '76 and remember the days when my dad would sit us in the smoking section and play juke box selections of Hank Williams Jr. The food has always been southern and always good in the southern way. Today, I wish the side portions were larger, but otherwise it is still the place where I go... More

The New Orleans Style Red Beans and Rice was the best thing I'd had all day! Great flavors and just enough to fill me up. The fried pork chop that came with it however, was a disappointment. It was very thin, and the flavor just wasn't there. The bread pudding with rum sauce was delicious! Everyone else really enjoyed their... More

We had the seafood platter and chicken and dumplings. Recommend either. Catfish especially good. Ranch dressing is homemade too!

A work colleague and I stopped by this place for lunch and we were very impressed with the speedy service and sizeable portions! We both got two meals out of our individual orders. I had a chicken fried chicken po boy and she had chicken fried steak with okra, potatoes and broccoli. We both had sweet sutra, which was delicious.... More

Hadn't been in a few years, but when the family was there, the food was good & the service friendly. Things have changed! I ordered the pork chops. They had always been delicious. They served me 2 extremely thin chops. They were less than a 1/4" thick. I didn't make a fuss as we were celebrating a birthday. NEVER GOING... More

Had time for a quick lunch near the airport and Po Melvin's got the nod. Friendly, helpful staff. Decor is not the main draw but the food is good. I had the gumbo which was delicious and the fried oysters were hot and tasty. A very good meal for a good price. I would definitely go back.

Po' Melvin's is a casual, laid-back neighborhood restaurant, with lots of seating, in booths and tables. The decor is somewhat dated, but is clean and has a homey atmosphere. I visited for lunch on a Thursday about 1pm and it was not too busy. The plentiful staff is very friendly and efficient. There is a small bar on one side... More

My granddaughter wanted to take me out to breakfast for my birthday. She's leaving for college and trying to save every penny she earns. This was her gift to me, I wish she had saved her money. I hadn't eaten at Po Melvin's in a while as it features home cooking ,usually fried. It's a great place favored by men... More

Food was bland. Lacking any kind of cajun/creole flavor. Don't believe any talk of a huge menu. The cajun items here are far and few between. No boudin, etoufee, shrimp creole, andouille sausage. More of a southern cooking restaurant if anything else. Biggest problem was just boring food. Totally edible, just no flavor and no spice. Server was fine if... More
