This is a nice little restaurant for German food. They don't have a large selection to choose from but their schnitzel is very good. They also have bakery items which are very good. They also sell many German treats ( Kinder Eggs)that you can take with you The only thing I would say against the Oven is it is quite... More

We stop in here quite often for the great German food and beers. It's a little hole-in-the-wall Mom& Pop operation and the food is absolutely great. Service is a little hit and miss depending on how busy they are and whose working. Place is easy to find and has plenty of parking.

A neat little out of the way place. Excellent German pastries. Good German deli offerings. Nice place to go for a new adventure. Great to return again. Menu varies. Call to find out what cooking today. I'll bet it's going to be good.

My husband loves German food so we drove to Kemper from Temple to try their food. The restaurant is small but has a bakery, German food retail area and a small deli with meat and cheese to purchase, as well as the restaurant. It is clean and simple in decor. Salad comes with all the dinners and you can choose... More

Since the new owners took over, this place has gone from an OK German restaurant to an authentic, great German restaurant... This is my wife an my favorite place to go to have great tasting German food. They also have a variety of bakery items, cheeses and meats... Also, sweets and treats from Germany... If you haven't been here, you... More

Have not eaten here in ages and won't again. Had wanted to try something different for date night. Now the food was not bad just nothing that would make me come back. My food did not look anything like the pictures on here. The side of potato I ordered should have never been plated. Looked like stuck leftovers scraped off... More

Have wanted to stop to eat here so many times and finally did. This will not be the only meal we have here ! This is a simple little restaurant/bakery that serves the most delicious German style food. So many choices it is difficult to choose. Can't imagine any choice being the wrong one ! The glass cases hold the... More

A friend mentioned this place and we stopped by on our way home from a road trip - it was on the way. We picked up sandwiches, rolls and pastries then stopped at a rest area for a picnic. Sandwiches were homemade and tasty. We sampled a variety of pastries and all were very good. My favorite was the pretzel... More

We visit this German restaurant every time we are in the Kempner area. The food is authentic German fare and the service is very friendly. My husband is reminded of his grandmother's cooking when we eat here. The apple strudel, raisin bread, various breads, and pastries are excellent. They also have delicious looking cheesecakes but I have never tried them.

Of course there is not very many options in the little town of Kempner, TX but their German food is very good. The last time I stop by and got a take out order we enjoyed it very much. Since I do not eat sweets, I still hear from other customers that their desserts and breads are still the best... More
