The brisket is quality beef, cooked very good and has a very good taste. I like mine to have a little more smoke flavor but I was not disappointed at all. The sausage is freaking awesome. The service and atmosphere is true to Texas! In the words of Gen. Douglas MacArthur, "I shall return!"

Like a lot of old time Texas meat markets, they cook barbecue for lunch. Better get there before 12:30 as they typically sell out. Don't expect anything fancy or hokey decor because there ain't any. You walk up to the counter, order, and then take your food to the back lunch room or take it with you. The meat is... More

When in the mood for great sausage, it's worth the nearly two hour drive each way! Always friendly service and the food is amazing!!!! There pan sausage makes is excellent for breakfast tacos. And the short links and pork/beef sausage are perfect on the grill. A must to visit when passing through, or even for a road trip. Enjoy!!!

The sausages are the greatest. We will go there and buy 10 links and bring the 2 hour drive home and enjoy. Such a pleasant place to shop for meat.

This is an old time real Texas BBQ place where the emphasis is on the meat. The building is tired and old and the facilities simple. The BBQ is top notch and its a fun place to go.

This is purely a meat market but you can eat in. Pretty awful lighting and atmosphere. Do not order any of the carton potato salads or cole slaw unless you are positive it is not post date and kept cold. We both had stomach issues a few hours later. The brisket and sauce are good. But you must order lean... More

The real deal. These German/Czech meat markets are where Texas Barbecue truly began, from Houston to San Antonio to Waco and to Dallas. German butchers who smoked sausage and pork... and beef. As a kid in the 1950s, even the local small independent grocery store in suburban Lake Highlands had a small pit behind it and served barbecue. There was... More

We had sausage and beef and it was very tasty. The mustard potato salad was delish! They make a sauce with vinegar and hot chili pequines. It is spicy but didn't like it as much as the regular sauce.

Prause Market is not what you would expect from a barbeque place. First, it is a meat market with locally grown meat. Second, you order the amount/kind of barbeque you want and they give you bread to make your own sandwich. Third, it sells out fairly early in the day. Fourth and final, it has the best barbeque chicken (this... More

This is an old town meat market, where they will trim steaks to your liking. They have great BBQ. No fancy frills. Eat off of butcher paper
