We have driven by this place a hundred times and never thought much about it. Finally tried it and we were pleasantly surprised. The Old River City Cafe doesn't look like much from the outside, but just stepping inside the door you know it's going to be better than you thought! Nicely furnished and decorated with vintage charm, the inside... More

I just love this place. It feels like you're eating in your grandma's kitchen with all of the cute old stuff on the walls, the great service and the delicious food. They have a delicious chicken fried steak as well as the best jalepeno corn casserole I've ever had! Perfect place to eat for that cozy small town feel.

Old River City Café is a great place for BBQ (sliced and chopped), chicken-fried chicken and chicken-fried steak. We always get the chile-con-queso and chips. Tue-Fri lunch specials. We are regulars.

Well I have read a mixture of reviews and have a friend that swears by this place, so I agreed to try. What do we look for in Texas comfort food? BBQ flavor, fusion of spices and traditional comfort foods, and of course the southern hospitality. Outside there is not much to look at when you pull up. Inside there... More

I've been coming here every year for more than ten years, usually for lunch. My parents discovered it shortly after they moved to the area and became regulars. It's a great stop for a filling, homey lunch and friendly service, a little off the beaten track but worth the ride.

Saturday's are all u can eat catfish & 2 sides. Catfish was very crispy, light batter, not greasy & perfectly cooked! Get the reunion beans! Wow just like grandmas! Sweet potato fries were crisp on the outside & perfect on the inside! Yes we will be back! Service was excellent.

Went for lunch with several friends and we were pleasantly surprised. The service was very good and the food was very good with good sized portions at a very reasonable price. We will definitely return there for lunch again.

Looking for a late Sunday morning breakfast. Did not want to fight crowds. Alrhough the parking lot was pretty full, we decided to take a chance. Not that crowded inside, must have been on the patio (have yet to try that). I had French Toast, fruit on top with bacon and an out~of~this~world cheesy hash brown casserole! Hubby had 2... More

AKA “Up the Hill”, “City Diner” and “Hidden Diner” This place is all about New Braunfels, not many tourist know about it but every local sure does. It’s located off of 725 not 2 miles out. The menu, the atmosphere, the precious patio, it meets everyone’s desires. I’d like to keep it a secret and not ever write about it... More
