Visited on a Saturday evening, but after the rush, empty table near by. Our server was very (confused, tired, disoriented, lost, surly, rude?)pick one as I'm not sure how to describe. There were 4 in our party so it wasn't a big top. We were all adults so there were no children for her to deal with. We ordered; 2... More

WOW what a big surprise when you walk in here. Every room is packed with beautiful trees and huge windows or open air views Trees, river views are all fantastic. The food is good and service was excellent. There is plenty to choose from on the menu. It's right next to Gruene Hall.

A really unique place in a small town. Big flavor & portions, spot on for price. A old grist mill turned restaurant. It has a huge courtyard with picnic tables. Large seating options in doors & out.

We visit the Gristmill and arrive approximately 3:30 p.m. When we arrive there was a 2 hour wait, so be prepared. The food was average but the atmosphere and wait staff was awesome!

Celebrated my birthday at Grist Mill first week of April. The weather was sunny with a light breeze, so we ate outside. The place was packed for a Monday. We had chicken fried steak, potatoes, & coleslaw. That's so Texas! Plus the food was yummy. Wait staff were attentive & friendly. Tables with view of the river is a bonus.... More

Situated on a bluff overlooking the Guadalupe River, this spectacular
restaurant nestled under the shade of towering oak trees has been the perfect getaway for a unique casual dining experience for thirty years.

Located in the historic district of Gruene just beneath the famous
Gruene water tower, we opened in 1977, serving steaks and
hamburgers from a tiny kitchen in the corner of the building.
Our menu still features thick steaks and large hamburgers, but the
restaurant also serves up popular South Texas fare like chicken fried
steak, fried catfish, grilled chicken, enormous sandwiches, fresh fish
and special dishes like tomatillo chicken and bronzed catfish. Fudge
pie, the enormous strawberry shortcake and our signature Jack
Daniel's Pecan Pie are famous desserts. A full bar with a good wine
list and fresh squeezed lime margaritas are also big hits.
