So difficult to choose what to get. The strudel (peach) was the right choice. Worth the stop. Coffee was great, too.

Walking in the door takes you back 60 years and even then this bakery has been in business nearly 100 years before that! The display case displays promise to fill any sweet tooth. I particularly like the assortment of traditional German cookies

We stopped at this bakery in New Bruanfels, TX while on hill country trip. It is a quaint place that has the homey atmosphere and great bakery smells and is the oldest bakery in Texas. I could not resist the offerings. My wife likes eclairs so I got a few. They had other assorted sweets such as strudel, cookies, pastries,... More

The oldest bakery in Texas. Great doughnuts, cinnamon rolls, strudel. The ladies behind the counter are super friendly. Just a fun place to grab a doughnut and coffee and watch the world go by.

We went in for breakfast. We met sweet smells and beautiful cases full of good treats. After selecting our favorites, we enjoyed eating on the sidewalk in front of the "oldest bakery in Texas." The workers were helpful and enthusiastic about their products.

They only sell sweets here. You won't find a pig in the blanket or egg biscuits here. No fancy coffee either. But what they do have is so delicious that they need the other stuff. We stop every time we are in the area.

The oldest bakery in Texas was wonderful. My favorite was the apple strudel with pecans on top. They have doughnuts, cakes, pies, sour dough bread etc. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. They have a sitting area in front and On the side of the building so you can enjoy your pastries.

We stopped here for pastries to bring back to our hotel. The kolaches were awesome! Also the cinnamon Danish. A fun staff and a pleasant shop.

Description
The fresh cookies, pastries, pies and cakes from Naegelin's Bakery are of historic proportions and timeless quality. It's all in the preparation. The Granzin family still uses recipes developed by the Naegelin family during more than a century of experimentation to get the right ingredients. As you walk into the front door of the bakery, the sweet smell of baked foods engulfs you like a warm blanket. The glass cases are full of what seems like an almost endless array of cookies and pastries in a rainbow of colors. The bakery is still famous for their strudels that Naegelin perfected years ago. The Granzin's have added terrific sausage kolaches in addition to the menu of fruit filled kolaches. We suggest you try the popular favorite: the Lebkuche, a thick, rectangular brown cookie covered with pink frosting. Don't forget to try our apple strudel! We look forward to seeing you soon!
