This is a great place to eat if your in the area. I have moved out of state after retirement and always make a point of eating here when I return to visit. Try the HOMEMADE hamburger, they don't get any better than this. I will always return, even if I am passing thru on I-10, it's worth the extra... More

We had dinner here on a Friday night and both ordered the chicken fried steak which came with fries and the vegetable of the day which was pinto beans. It also came with a trip to the salad bar which is really the only disappointing thing here in my opinion. When I think salad bar I think lettuce, fresh sliced... More

Meals are usually fairly good.During lunch if you get the special it is fast but if you order off of the menu it is very slow. The place is understaffed usually.

Now this is the real deal in country joints in South Central Texas. Atmosphere is not pretend - it just is. Chicken fried steak is the real thing. Don't miss the fried pickles as they were done just right. Great service. Note the small piece of paper on the corner of the table. It is a running list of your... More

Texas Star is a good little restaurant in the sleepy little town of New Ulm. We recently had breakfast there and really enjoyed it with the exception of the coffee. The coffee was terrible. The locals told us that the hours are limited so to always check before going. Suprisingly they aren't open at night. When you are the only... More

Our Laake ancestors came to New Ulm, Tx in the 1860's so we are definitely locals. Let ME tell you Texas star cafe is THE best. Thier hamburgers are so big and juicy one will fill you up. Thier chicken fried steaks are tender and tasty and huge. The owners Wendy and Chad Raisner are some of the nicest and... More

Texas small town cafe dining at its best. Have been here several times, both for breakfast and lunch and have never been disappointed. Breakfast consists of the usual cafe fare, eggs, hash browns, pancakes, lots of bacon and sausage and coffee. The prices are vey reasonable and you will not leave hungry. Go with the special of two eggs, sausage,... More

Nothing fancy, casual in the country. More than adequate servings. They make the best hamburgers. Prompt service, but usually the waitress is in a rush. Specials served.

I went there after my golfing at THE FALLS. Very clean, and it reminds you of a old fashion diner with great service and food .
