When we stopped by on a Friday afternoon. The ladies across the street said the hours have varied lately. :( they did direct us a mile across the road to the Mesquite Canyon Steak house it was really good.

We stopped in from out of state and I got the 12 oz Ribeye. Let me just say I savored every single bite! And their beer bread, so delicious! Our waitress was so good and everyone there was so friendly. We will DEFINITELY be back. Great place!!!

The steak was tender and delicious. Cooked perfectly with that wonderful searing. Vern and his wife came in while we were there and we had a nice visit with them. They were very friendly and inviting. Too bad we couldn't include it on our return trip - we wanted to! Say yes to Vern's on Rte 66!

Excellent diner. The beer bread is awesome. Steaks were great, as was the chicken fried chicken, and catfish. Cold beer.

From the friendly greeting, to the huge salad, beautifully tasty tender steak, crispy fries, endless soft drinks Big Vern's won our hearts and stomachs. More expensive than we had anticipated for a small town but when you cut into those steaks (with the biggest steak knife I think Ive ever held!!) you can forgive them.

Don't look for ambiance at this restaurant, but enjoy the juiciest mouth watering steak you will ever have - even above some "premium" steakhouses. Easy access Just off route 40 and on route 66 . Pleasant and friendly staff.

Very nice clean restaurant. Had lots of choices on menu. Agree with one viewer the steak prices are to high! Had Lemon Chicken which was very good. Side salad and grilled vegetables was also very good. Waitress was very nice and polite. She hustled to get our food out quickly. Great service.

The food at Vern's is pretty good but for a small town Texas steakhouse it seems expensive. Steaks were from $ 25 to $31 dollars. Service was very good and friendly, atmosphere was pretty basic, and the location made it the place to eat in town

ok....so in a larger town, I wouldn't give this a 4 out of 5. But hey, it's the small town of Shamrock and they do a decent job. We sat in the bar for a little livelier atmosphere than the cafeteria looking main dining area. Service was fast and friendly and with a smile. Margaritas were great. My sirloin steak... More

Great service, personable waitress, Gail was amazing. Food very poor quality. I don't recommend it. Small town but better places to eat. I must say the decor had a charm all its own.
