We heard about Mac and Ernie's on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. Decided to give it a try and were blown away by the cabrito burger. The goat was delicately spiced and cooked to a light pink medium with no trace of fat. The flavour was so unique and pleasant it is hard to describe other than the best burger EVER.... More

We went to Mac and Ernie's for lunch and it was sooooo good! I had the cheeseburger and my sister had the sausage wrap and we both got fries. The prices are wonderful, we both ate for $12. The location is on the side of the road and looks like a semi hole in the wall, but it would be... More

Drove down from Bandera for lunch wanting a cabrito burger but they were out, wouldn't have any goat for a week or so. Had the lamb burger and it was good. Excellent, crispy frys! Drove back down for dinner and had the Guinness Beef Stew. Very rich; tender chuncks of beef in wonderful gravy served over mashed potatoes. Mac and... More

We ordered the cheese burger and lamb burger and enjoyed both. The lamb burger was the best of the two; Very tasty and the cucumber sauce was great! We ate outside as it was a little smokey inside. The dinner menu looked great and would be worth a return trip. This was a pleasant surprise on a wonderful drive through... More

This restaurant is worth the drive. I recommend going early for dinner. This place does a brisk business, both dine in and take out. No reservations. Casual and laid back atmosphere with retro formica top dining tables and vinyl chairs inside and picnic tables in the back yard, it has a family reunion, picnic type vibe. Meals are served on... If you like good food and don't mind every one talking at FULL volume .... eat here. If you like good food and don't mind a thousand out of control kids screaming everywhere with parents ignoring very bad behavior.... eat here! We ate quail, shrimp, and pork chop and all three of us diners thoroughly enjoyed every succulent bite. But... More

If you want a great hamburger/cheeseburger, go to the town of Tarpley and visit this restaurant. They are only open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday but the 27 miles drive out of Hondo, Tx is well worth it. I had the blue cheese burger and it was so big I had to take half home. Good non-greasy fries and the... More

I've enjoyed the food and atmosphere at Mac & Ernie's at least 7 times over the past 9 years, and it only gets better! I develop software for animal hospitals and visit one of our veterinarians in the Hill Country of Texas, Dr Stephen Sells. He introduced me to Mac & Ernie's, back when it was a roadside shack with... We got there when it opened on Sunday morning because we heard that it fills up quickly. We were there for a couple of hours and, while there was quite a bit of traffic it wasn't packed which was nice because we were able to move to one of the picnic tables out back. The bloody mary mix is strong... More

Small menu selection but good food. I had a cheeseburger with French fries. Tea was slightly strong and there wasn't a water spigot available to customers. However, staff was quite willing to be accommodating. Overall, I enjoyed my visit to this restaurant.
