Burlingtonians favor value over conspicuous consumption, and my quick trip into El Cortijo was just that; with 40 minutes to fill before a flick at the Roxy movie house, I was able to get in a can of desirable Lawson's Finest Sip of Sunshine and two wonderful tacos, I chose the fried fish model, with a limed-cream sauce and cabbage... Who doesn't like tacos!?! By far the best food I've had! Everything from chips and salsa (must try queso) to tacos and burritos! Atmosphere is great, staff is awesome, food is great!

Quirky, eclectic atmosphere with great food! Small place gets very crowded and wait can be long. We were starving and decided to sit at the bar to eat. Bartender was awesome gave us the lowdown on food likes and drinks. We took his advice and had the most delicious food. Guacamole with homemade chips and 3 sauces was great! Burritos,... More

El Cortijo is part of a local restaurant group, and in my mind, the best of the bunch. I think this is a great place for people new to the more authentic flavors of Mexico, as well as a solid and fun choice for those whose tastebuds are a bit more experienced. One nice feature if you're not a big... More

I stopped in for a quick lunch before a movie. I had a hankering for the fish tacos. A la carte, they are $5 each, and while kind of small, they were excellent. Nice choices of hot sauces, beers, plates and platters. I was still hungry so I tried a choriza taco which was nice a spicy. Looks like a... More

The building is an olde diner (you know--a converted railroad car), which is always fun. Crowded, but who cares? I don't think they take reservations, so get there early for whatever meal you have in mind. The burritos were particularly good, and all the drinks were outstanding. The staff were knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, and remarkably accommodating--you can add or leave... More

Great margaritas, great tacos, sometimes i wish they had more variety on their menu. Everything tastes great but sometimes the space can feel claustrophobic. It is very quirky but small and busy at times.

We were looking for a cozy restaurant to a have a relaxing dinner on a breezy autumn evening. El Cortijo was the perfect place. It was a busy Sunday evening but we managed to snag a large comfy booth. Our server was warm and welcoming. She was knowledgeable about the menu. El Cotijo serves Mexican cuisine. The food was fresh,... More

We hit the jackpot last weekend; there was an available table without waiting! We have been here a few times in the last year and each time there was a lenghty wait. Tacos are delicious; our server was very sweet and helpful with all of our questions. Can't wait to go back!

This place is small, very small. Approximately 10 booths and a bar small. I saw one booth that might ve able to seat 6, but otherwise they cant accommodate more than a party of 4. But the place is cute, its an old diner. I got a fish taco which was fine but ive definitely had better. Also had a... More
