This is a jewel in the mountains of Vermont. Good food, good wine at reasonable prices and friendly service. The hot bread is fresh and the olive oil served with it is great. My wife had escargot just the way she loves it, in a rich sauce that cries to be scooped up with the fresh bread. I had a... More

Excellent restaurant, menu is diverse & something for everyone to enjoy. Service was superb & very friendly. My son was very impressed that the chef came out to speak with us both times we ate there. Gorgeous artwork on the walks, fantastic views out of the windows of the Mad Glen River. A perfect end to the day

The atmosphere is great, the calamari appetizer is so tasty, and the cassoulet is a very filling meal. If you want a satisfying meal that doesn't leave you hungry an hour after leaving the restaurant try the cassoulet. I find it extra warming on a cold or damp day.

Oh my my MY! Doting staff, delectable eats, timing of each plate; perfection! The chef came out to see how everything was, DIVINE! First escargot and locally sourced meatballs. My main entree; orecchiette with escarole and handmade chicken sausage. Ahumina ahumina ahumina…My husband had chicken breast with mushrooms in sherry, cream & lemon sauce. Wowza! Make reservations now. Everything culminated... More

We had the Tuscan meatballs as an appetizer and they were very flavorful. For dinner we had the gorgonzola special and chicken with mushrooms in a Sherry lemon wine sauce. Both dinners were excellent. For dessert, we had chocolate ganache cake with fresh whipped cream. The dessert was scrumptious and to die for. We never had a chocolate cake so... More

The food, service and decor were excellent. The menu is a bit limited and eclectic, but we thoroughly enjoyed everything about our evening. One note of caution - their spicy food is really hot, so don't order it if you are not into peppery heat. However, the preparation and taste of all of their food were excellent. And the service... My wife and I had a really very good meal. The spicy shrimp dish was unbelievably tasty and the chicken special was quite good. The signature gin cocktail was great as well. Very nice service as well. Highly recommended

This is my second trip to the Peasant and not my last! Each time the menu changes based on what's in season and locally sourced. This past visit I thoroughly enjoyed a Sicilian Shrimp over rice dish that was phenomenal. It was extremely spicy, as we were forewarned, but unlike most establishments that say it's very spicy this actually was!... More
