Michael's on Route 100 has a very cozy layout and a warm staff -- really a pleasure to dine there. We recommend the mushroom tartine appetizer and particularly the beef tenderloin. The spaetzli and cheese was a little heavy and tedious. But overall, Michael's has a skillful kitchen that remains consistent with the chef's l'Espinasse background.

We loved our dinner and the found the service, the food, and ambiance to be impeccable. The casual atmosphere and quiet setting was just what we needed after a truly busy day. A Wonderful setting in a beautiful farmhouse, atop a hill just north of Waterbury. Delicious meal, tasty appetizers, and it was well worth the trip from Burlington. Plan... More

Micahel's On The Hill is a great local restaurant Chef Owned with excellent local foods and spirits, the ambience is warm and inviting and you never feel rushed to complete your dinner and get out. This Chef Owned restaurant easily accommodates gluten free diets. Plenty of on site restaurant parking.

The wild mushroom tartine with truffle honey gastrique appetizer was nice, not awesome, but nice. My beef tenderloin with celery root gratin, braised leeks, truffle butter and port wine sauce was excellent - the combination was on point. My husband's spice roasted venison loin was done to perfection but the red wine braised cabbage & chestnut gnocchi was not his... More

Visited this past Saturday for a surprise Valentines Special weekend in the mountains of Vermont. Dinner at Michaels on the Hill was a very special part of the weekend and came after an exhausted search of restaurants in both the Stowe and Burlington areas. My daughter found this for me and it checked all the boxes. Beautiful location and in... More

Were skiing in Stowe and were looking for a great restaurant, we were recommended by the concierge at the Stowe Lodge. Ambiance is european, chique but not fancy, you can feel uncomfortable dressed up or relaxed. Service was prompt, courteous, respectful, excellent overall. Food selection was relatively broad for the winter season and covered sea food, fish, meat and vegan.... More

Ate here on a weekend night. Place was rather busy and we were immediately seated in a nice table on the porch. Outstanding service, very attentive but not too obtrusive. I chose the tasting menu with no regrets. Calamari salad was quite tasty. Great wine selection. My wife ordered the tenderloin and she did send it back as it was... More

The experience was terrific. We were seated in front of the establishment with a beautiful window view. It was quite romantic/ The service was top notch. We chose the platinum 3-course meal with wine pairing. The food was very good and the wine was superb.

Description
Michael's on the Hill is located within a circa 1820 farmhouse, picturesquely set on a hill, with breathtaking views of the Green Mountains. The restaurant can comfortably seat 84 guests, and has a full bar with a piano lounge and outside porch available for dining. We boast a large enclosed wrap-around porch dining room (with a view from each table) and a beautifully renovated barn room where guests may dine in luxury, all the while being reminded of the history of the barn.
Michael's on the Hill emits a sophisticated charm without the pretentious attitude so commonplace in a restaurant with fine food. We offer locally driven, innovative European cuisine and a welcoming, refined atmosphere. When it comes to elements as vital as flavor, taste and preparation, a great respect for the ingredients must exist. As we believe, a chef's ego should never outshine the true stars, the ingredients. Our dishes are innovative, flavorful and fresh, focusing on local ingredients, and created in a European style.
The evening always turns Michael's on the Hill into a romantic, warm, and festive atmosphere for guests to enjoy dinner expertly created by Chef/Owner Michael Kloeti. All dinners start with a warm, linen-wrapped sourdough baguette, sweet butter, and a bowl of marinated olives. Whether sitting near the fire, or on our grapevine-surrounded porch, guests are enveloped in a pleasing comfort, while enjoying the piano and personalized attention. Come for a visit, and allow us to share conversation, hospitality and a bit of home.
