I wasn't sure about this spot because I read that tour groups come here, but I am glad that we had lunch at Michie Tavern. The restaurant is located just down the road from Monticello, so you can have lunch and head back to complete another tour if you want. It fits in with the rest of the day when... More

Michie Tavern tops off your visit to Jefferson's Monticello. Formerly serving as a stage coach way station in the mid-1800s, the tavern building was dismantled and moved to its current site in 1927. It absolutely reeks of history, and one can imagine gentlemen in knee high breeches wearing tricorn hats and carrying swords, accompanied by a manservant, stopping here for... More

This place is amazing and serves food of yesteryear . The servers are always friendly and helpful. A little pricy but a great place to spend a few hours.

We enjoyed Michie's very much. The fried chicken was perfect, crispy, not grease, good flavor. I loved the Virginia ham! All the sides were good too, and the biscuits were yummy! The price was a little high for a small buffet, but the food was good and the historic atmosphere was so enjoyable.

While at Monticello, we asked one of the guides where we should go for lunch. She said the best place to go was the Michie Tavern and her description of the food was so complimentary that that's all we needed to hear and arrived at the Tavern around 2pm. Our historic day continued as we were greeted by two lovely... More

we were disappointed in this restaurant. it's a buffet, $18.50 per person, and only 9 items to choose from. the food was good but not hot. drinks and dessert cost extra.

When you pull up to this place, you can tell it is going to be good. To make it 1800's style, they have all of their dishes tin. The place is beautiful and it has very clean bathrooms. There is plenty of space for seating and weren’t many tour groups the day we visited. Plus, you don’t have to worry... More

Third visit to Michie Tavern in the past two years. Still the best fried chicken anywhere. Side dishes compliment the chicken very well. Peach Cobbler a la Mode is just the best. Must stop on any visit to C'ville.

I've been to Michies several times in the past, and as they have hiked their prices, the food quality and seating has NOT improved. I really enjoy the atmosphere, but quite frankly, seating is difficult and my mother fell off the bench backward and could have been badly hurt. If you have any reservations about sitting on a bench, be... More

If you've visited Monticello early, this is not far from the entrance and a good, convenient stop for lunch. Food is good. Server was attentive and engaged in conversation. Only minus was the cost, although since it was an endless buffet, if you want to "gorge" yourself, then the price might be more worth it. In fact, we would go... More
