We had an enjoyable, peaceful experience. The restaurant was a comfortable temperature. The decor was unique because of its Russian theme. The menu was different from what was online, apparently due to shortages created by COVID. I believe they were somewhat short staffed, assuming due...to COVID. This place had some interesting decor but not everything was interesting in a good way. We were greeted with the statue of Lenin, the first communist dictator of Russia. People running the restaurant didn’t speak any Russian. Service was courteous. Though be aware: the list...of food items on the menu in the restaurant was much shorter and more expensive than on the website. So if you are going there for the first time, make sure to call and find out if it suits your expectations. Food we ordered was not bad, it had a nice flavor, but it was terribly overpriced. It came out on extremely hot plates and after a couple of bites my chicken got overcooked and became little dry. The best thing in my dish was the red cabbage; it was really delicious. Overall, it really did not seem to be a true Russian restaurant. I am being generous by giving them 3 stars. Considering the prices for the quality and amount of Russian menu items, I would have given two and a half stars instead.More

Two things make this place stand out. The first is the service and the second is the atmosphere. Everyone at this small restaurant is exceptionally courteous, professional and well trained. The ambiance is warm, the design is quaint and elegant. Perfect for a romantic dinner...or a weekend get together. The menu is not expansive but well varied with good vegetarian options. I would give the food a 3.5 out of 5. It is certainly not high cuisine. More homey than what we’d expected, but not in a bad way. In short, our dishes were well made yet not sophisticated. We will definitely come again to try other dishes, and because we felt welcome and at home.More

Anything I ever ordered here was masterfully done, and the service was pleasant and professional. For those of you....including myself....who occasionally bring a discount coupon, no problem, and sometimes she will actually give it back to you to use again! HIghly recommended.,

My wife and I have been frequenting the Russia House for over 10 years now. Located in downtown Herndon, you can generally do a walk in and find seating although they also take reservations. They have an extensive vodka drink menu with various flavored vodkas....And, the food is fantastic with features such as beef stroganoff, borsht, and some more exotic fare such as boar on occasion. The couple that run the place are always friendly and eager to serve. Stop by and you won't be disappointed.More

I had an excellent meal with friends and colleagues. Truly delicious (and excellent caviar). However twice during the meal we had to change wines because they had run out! The first wine we asked for 2 bottles but when we questioned where the 2nd was...they had sold it to another customer as they wanted 3 bottles of that wine. Then ... the same thing happened again. Our group of 5 had dinner 6-8 pm on a Wednesday night. Empty at 6 pm, half-full at 8 pm. We had expected a fuller house with it being a National Russian holiday. Great food & service. Very accommodating staff. Parking not a problem with...Municipal lot a block away.More

This is a great place to eat in Herndon. They have been here for many years and it shows in the quality of the food and amazing service. Really cozy atmosphere and home dining room decor. Excellent food, with something for just about everyone, including...vegetarians and vegans. Lots of free street parking and there are a few parking lots within a block walk.More
