We celebrated our 50th anniversary dinner at Patowmack Farm last night. It proved to be magical on several levels. First the ambiance of a glass-barn building with soaring heights and rustic timbers was cozy yet welcoming. Second, from arrival to departure the staff proved exuberant,...friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Our primary server, Alex, is a gem and a dining asset! We were among the first diners to test the new seasonal menu. The Progression meal was imaginative, flavorful, expertly served and earned our highest rating. The menu theme featured winter vegetables and flavors. There were a couple of small glitches but nothing that marred the experience. For a first service this was impressive. We intend to return for a family style dinner with the rest of our family shortly!More

We were looking forward to our meal. Wow talk about the wind coming out of our sails. Outside of desert which was good the food was bad. The final plate (before desert) was inedible. We also had the wine pairing (my wife the "standard" and...me the "chef’s" pairing). The pairings were ok, there was however an odd pairing. One courses pairing was a cocktail. It was a total flop. The one positive of the evening was the staff. They were great. They were knowledgeable and enthusiastic.More

We came here for a friend’s anniversary and from the minute we arrived, the customer service was outstanding! They seated us in a beautiful spot, overlooking the Potomac River and the Point of Rocks Bridge into Maryland. There’s really no bad view from their covered...patio though. Just an FYI – Their outside seating, which is mostly what they do during the nicer months, is covered, their restroom is in an adjacent building, which is still a walk outside from either their main “indoor” dining room or their covered outdoor dining area. There are fans in the outdoor covered area, plenty of lighting and it’s absolutely beautiful to sit and dine here. Their prices are reasonable for 8+ courses of food (I say 8+, because they bid you a farewell with some nice sweet treats… they also give you something to take home for breakfast the next morning!). All of their ingredients come from their farm or farms within 40 miles of this restaurant; this is truly a local farm-to-table experience! And their chef comes from some popular Michelin rated fine dining places. I’m actually surprised this restaurant doesn’t already have a star, it’s so much better than single star places we’ve dine at in Napa… I think it’s time the Michelin folks stop here on their way from DC to Little Washington!! We started with a cocktail, as they have a seasonal cocktail list which was pretty interesting. The Summer Delight was amazing, fresh juices and a decent amount of rum made for a perfect way to start the evening! Next, I opted for a glass of red to sip on throughout my dining experience, but we also chose their pairing, which at $50 is an amazing deal! Each course was a work of art, sort of like another favorite of ours in Washington, VA! Lots of attention to detail in the creation of each dish, in the plating, in the presentation at the table and the flavors were all spot on – PERFECT! The pairings were very impressive as well, as they fit each dish as they should have. (I say this because often times/other places pairings can be a little too generalized, they definitely were not here, they worked perfectly!) Some favorites of ours were the deviled egg, the ravioli, the tomato soup and grilled cheese and the lamb curry. Of course, I’m using the general names for each, which might make them sound sort of like basic diner fare, but they most definitely were not that… they were beautiful works of art, with substance and great depth of flavor! Our server, Alex was excellent at ensuring everything went well too! He and the other servers and runners were all very professional and helpful. We enjoyed having Alex explain the history of the farm and restaurant to us, as well as providing interesting information about the farm, restaurant, and area. Overall, we would give The Restaurant at Patowmack Farm 6 stars, if that were possible! We highly recommend this dining experience for special occasions (reserve the gazebo!!) or for a couple’s date night. We’ll most definitely return…soon!More

This is one of the best total meal experiences I have had in a long time. It's a bit of a trip from the DC metro area, but it was well worth it. The location is amazing. You feel like - and pretty much are...- away in the country, with beautiful views from the outdoor dining area. The food is spectacular. Every one of the nine courses was delicious, with flavor profiles ranging from simply perfect to magically complex. Our wine parings were creatively and expertly matched. The staff, including the chef himself, were fun, friendly and engaging. If the Michelin reviewers ever get there (and they should), this place is guaranteed a star, probably two. The food itself may not quite yet be on par with Inn @ Little Washington, but I had a much better time at The Restaurant at Patowmac Farm. I just got home from there, and can't wait to return.More

The dining area is a tent atop a hillside overlooking the Potomac river and Maryland - a majestic view and worth the trip. It has 15 outdoor tables, with great ventilation and lighting. You can get the adjacent private gazebo if you call and pay...an extra $100. It is on a farm and must be accessed by driving, so be sure to have a designated driver assigned for the trip. You can't really walk there from anywhere nearby - it's single lane muddy country roads. The servers are incredibly kind, talkative, and personalize your experience. The meal is a tasting of farm-fresh, local ingredients, and every plate was a joy. They can tailor to dietary needs as well, with many dishes naturally gluten free and vegetarian. The wine pairing elevated many of the dishes. The chef is incredibly talented and even came to greet the end-of day diners. Would return for a different season's offerings.More

After spending close to 400 dollars ( 2 tasting menus, bottle of wine, and tip) you would hope for an incredible, memorable meal. It was anything but that. The courses were either too salty ( summer squash salad with feta) or dry and too salty...( the main dish of pork that was supposed to be like Wagyu but was rock hard, dry, and extremely salty) or the disappointing dessert that had dry chocolate cake). Even the take home dessert was so dry my 16 year old son didn’t want it. Totally subpar and inexcusable for such a “decadent” meal. The three stars are for the service which was wonderful.More

We had an amazing experience. We were greeted by the owner and seated at a table on their outdoor patio with an exquisite view. Our waitress Ty, helped us select a wine and explained each course to us as it was served. The food was...fabulous. We had eight courses and they were wonderful, but my favorite was the sweet corn ravioli with crabmeat. I could eat this every day! It was our anniversary and they had cards for us and a personalized menu. All in all this was an excellent experience and I highly recommend it.More

We were so lucky to dine alfresco at this restaurant this past Saturday evening. The weather was just perfect and we had a lovely view of the Point of Rocks Bridge. The owner greeted all the guests individually and made us feel welcome. Our server...Ty was wonderful and very attentive. As for the food, the menu is a set menu and while I originally had qualms about the selection, my party and I enjoyed all of the courses, with the exception of the soup which we found to be too spicy. However the rest of the meal, from the farm egg to the Black Forest cake dessert was excellent. We hope to return to this restaurant for another special occasion.More

We had dinner at Patowmack Farms about a year and a half ago and it was so memorable we decided to return. I’m sorry to report that it will be the last. Our meal was served at the rate of speed that would make McDonald...impressed. The theme of the dinner was Israeli and was not much better than a storefront restaurant. Our meal started with two dips with pita, hummus and Ful. We barely finished the dips when the family style dinner arrived, falafel, lamb kabobs, chickpea and rice, tabouli, bread with a raw egg, a stuffed crepe with sweet potato, feta and other items (this was very good) and maybe one or two other dishes. Our dishes were taken away as soon as it looked like we were finished with a dish, and yes, we could have said hold on, leave the dish, but they weren’t worth the effort. Our meal ended with a very rich chocolate dish, Malabi, pudding covered with cherries and pistashio. This meal could have been served at any large conference. We were in and out in less than an hour!More

Enjoyed an abundance of flavorful courses carried with ceremony to our table, a full experience elevating our meal. Each course delighted the senses with layers of scent and flavor. The wine pairings worked well with each course. The servers are well versed in the ingredients...and back story. Inventive combinations landed well over all - worth the price for thoughtful food and presentation well above the average restaurant. We chose to take home our last course - home made sweets - as we were too full to enjoy them at that time. A few minor quibbles - there should have been an equal number of vegetarian offerings - for two courses, I simply got less food than my companion rather than the being offered a full range. It would not be that hard to come up with some tidbits to ensure that everyone gets to taste multiple small bites. It would have been nice if the server had let us know coffee was available prior to the dessert course; being our first visit, it didn't occur to us to order since everything else was scripted. By the time we asked if it was available, we were the last table and didn't want to linger. Overall, an interesting and delicious meal that stretched our ideas of what a dining experience can be.More

We very much enjoyed our dinner at Patowmack Farm. The locavore menu focuses on American Indian ingredients, including heirloom grains/beans. Not every dish was a hit, but all were interesting and flavorful. The wine pairings were thoughtful. Service was excellent throughout. We really enjoyed the...descriptions of the courses and their ingredients, and the written cards provided with more information. Taking home a personalized menu was a nice touch as well. The restaurant was quite loud when we arrived, making it difficult to hear each other, but quieted down as a couple of tables left.More

Last night my husband and I finally got to eat at Patowmack Farm. Beverly, the owner, was the first to greet us upon arrival and it was a joy to talk to her about how her farm evolved into this amazing restaurant. The view from...each table was gorgeous. We did the progressive menu with wine pairing. Each course was a treat for your eyes, nose, and especially taste buds! Eli, the sommelier, described each wine wonderfully and he paired them all perfectly. It was a treat to talk to him about his journey into discovering natural wines. The entire staff was warm and very knowledgeable. The food was sublime. Each course different and none reliant on another - each stood on its own merits. Don’t hesitate to make a reservation, it’s more than worth it!More

This was our first time at Patowmack Farm Restaurant. We went for our anniversary, and couldn't have been more pleased. We have had hundreds of lovely dining experiences in all our years, but we agreed that this one topped them all. First, the location is...scenic and serene. We had a view over a valley with a bridge spanning the Potomac River in the distance. A lovely breeze kept the summer heat at bay. (They also have indoor dining, but who would want that unless it was snowing. And maybe not then??) We arrived at 6 and left close to 9. You have the table for the evening, and there is ample time to relax, enjoy the view, savor the food, walk to the gazebo, etc. We were greeted with a parchment that welcomed us by name and wished us happy anniversary, followed by the progressive menu of nine (9) courses. We chose to have our dinner paired with wine throughout. A good choice, as the sommelier came to the table to explain each wine. I appreciated the explanation at the time of ordering that the wine pairing would be about the total of 2-1/2 glasses of wine. Responsible! Each dish was as exquisite as the previous one. The plating was creative and the dishes were unique. All the food is from the Patowmack Farm, or from farms nearby. The use of seasonal fruits and vegetables was a culinary delight. That sounds cliche, but it all was amazing! We actually took pictures of the dishes. It was art. We will definitely be returning.More
