This restaurant was a church 150 years ago. It has a nice quiet ambience and most anything is on the menu. The architecture is impressive and when it was remodeled, it was done really well.

Can’t believe this was even in the top 10 restaurants in Norfolk. The oyster chowder was disgusting. I have eaten chowders from Boston to New York to San Fran and this was not even close. Never order it. The appetizer was inedible. The wine list...More

The restaurant on a Monday night was fairly empty, but I was led to the farthest back table next to the kitchen and given a menu that lacked some pages (like the one with the specials). The service was very slow and inattentive (e.g. I...More

Went here with several people traveling for work. Game night was very delicious. I had the wild boar chops, they were cooked perfectly and were amazing. Everyone else enjoyed their meals. History and character of the building are a nice bonus to the great food.

Enjoyed a delicious lunch with family and friends at the historic Freemason Abbey. Was surprised at the reasonable price of the lunch items on the menu. Good service in a lovely building. Would definitely come for lunch again!

I've been here a few times and food has been from pretty good to outright fantastic. The wine selection is mediocre at best but the service is top notch. Always busy, the menu is diverse enough. They always make a mean steak! Really popular for...More

Yes! We can accommodate almost all allergies, we always ask that you let your server know of your specific allergies so they can communicate to the kitchen and we can ensure every precaution is taken on your meals.

We at Freemason Abbey always recommend reservations, just to be on the safe side! And we are about a 7-10 minute drive from Douglas Wilder Performing Arts center

Freemason Abbey is 4 blocks from Chrysler Hall, it is about a 10 minute walk. Often guests will park in the Chrysler Hall parking garage and walk to us for dinner, then walk to the show so that they are close to their cars... More
