Been to the Robin Hood a few times lately, it really is quite lovely in the garden area and the conservatory, all decked out in fairy lights. Staff a very friendly and attentive, they have a summer cocktail list at the moment with some lovely...gin mixes. We shared some delicious starters, hallloumi chips were great. Some ordered from the specials, risotto was really good. Plenty of choice for veggies, also enjoyed the mini dessert and coffee. It was quite busy for a Thursday night, which made for a nice atmosphere. Pretty good value all in all.More
Very lovely premises which do not reflect what is available inside. Very expensive really poor food. Mega problems in the kitchen suspect everything cooked from frozen with no feeling the chef cares about the food. Maybe just eat anything that does not have to be...cooked!!More
I’ve been visiting this pub for many years - sadly even before lockdown food quality had gone down hill. Thought we would give their Sunday lunch another try. There were 4 of us, the roasts were dreadful, extra beef served up on a saucer, tiny...portion of cauliflower cheese and soft roast potatoes. The veg was not al dente it was raw and disgusting sweet red cabbage, yuk! The lamb shank was meaty and tender and the beef OK, as was the fish and chips. I had a mushroom sharing starter which was inedible and looked as repulsive as it tasted. My husband said the chorizo bake was tasty, as was the prawn cocktail. We ordered bread with olive oil dip - you could have used the bread as house bricks.
Total bill £36 per head with only one bottle of wine is too steep for mediocre food and inattentive service - there was a time when you had to book Sunday lunch weeks in advance, now you can just walk in. The lack of custom obviously speaks volumes - very sad as it used to be a favourite 😢More
We had a nice Sunday lunch of roast beef we asked for extra meat which was a supplement of £3 Nice but there seemed to be two types of beef the one on the plate was tender one meat which was served up on a...side dish was a little tuff we had cauliflower cheese as an extra rather a small portion other then that was quite a pleasant meal the outstanding Element of our meal was the young ladies who were serving us they were extremely helpful polite and professional We had three drinks between us to Sunday roast and two deserts the bill came to £70 which I think is a little steep for a pub .More
I had travelled on foot for miles after dumping my Vauxhall Corsa on M25 after AA wanted £250 to get my car to London Colney 2 more stops..on M25....I refused payment after discovering I Had forgotten to renew car breakdown cover with coop. A genuine...oversight. Covered in cuts and, stings from jumping barbed wire and nettles and bleeding I turned up at Robin Hood in tears after visiting my daughter in Essex mental health ward. James came to my rescue. His calm and caring attitude helped me overcome the terrible ordeal of abandoning my car and walking miles to a safe place. I don't know what I would have done without James. He gave me coffee and spoke to me and really calmed me down. I was very upset and James stayed with me throughout my ordeal. I want to say a big Thank you to James for being a very decent human being after being dumped on M25 from dispicable AA. Thank youJ ames, you are a man...perfect gentleman in a million ..
Very best wishes
The staff are nice but a bit inattentive. The fresh prawns were not deveined. I have a problem eating a "poo sack"
High prices for average food ... a kind of wanna be gastro pub that cooks the same way as a wetherspoons? I had...a whole plaice but it couldnt be taken off the bone and the knife I had was blunt so half my fish came away with the skin? Suspect it was cooked from frozen rather than fresh|?More
