My husband and I have always enjoyed the food and service at this pub so we were looking forward to visiting again last Friday for the first time since COVID.
I ordered the rib eye steak for my main and was suspicious when I started...trying to cut into it and it was very difficult and when I was finally able to cut a piece, the meat was extremely tough and pretty tasteless. There was no way I could continue eating it and so I sent it back. This is not something I enjoyed doing especially as we have always had good food here.
The manager came over and asked if I would like to ordered anything else and I politely said no as my husband was already half way through his meal. She offered some drinks so I ordered another glass of prosecco and my husband had half a pint of ale.
We were shocked when we received the bill to see that we were charged for the drinks that we thought were complimentary!!
At that point, I just wanted to leave and did not want to cause a scene so we just paid and left.
However, the more we thought about it over the last few days, the more we regretted it which is why I decided to do this review.More
Wanted to visit The Red Lion as we had heard good things about it from friends
The service was very good however the quality of the 2 roast dinners very disappointing. The meat beef and lamb were tough and very fatty (lamb). Both meats tasted...like they had been heated up after original cooking.
One set of roast potatoes were cold in the middle.
We informed one of the staff who said they would pass on our comments but I doubt that happened.
Sorry will not be returning as plenty of better pub food nearer homeeMore
Just been to The Red Loon for our Sunday lunch and it was absolutely delicious will definitely be going back there again. Staff were very helpful and friendly. It’s now on one of my top 5 places to eat.
Booked a table in the garden. I took my Mum and was meeting my husband for lunch. The carpark is a lot bigger than expected.
Signs were easy to follow . We were greeted and shown to our table. The garden has many tables in...different areas. The service was great. Helpful and polite staff. The food was well prepared , tasty and nice size portions. The best meal out we have had for ages.
We will be back again soon.More
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday, as just the two of us. We had a lovely table sat outside (the outdoor seating area is lovely) our waiter(s) we’re amazing and super helpful, only thing is I think they need to communicate better as...we seemed to be asked a few times for starters. However aside from this the evening was amazing, it was definitely value for money, the food was tasty and good portions, we were more then satisfied by the end of it, and they accommodated to my vegan diet really well :). Would definitely go back here, great for family’s, couples and groups of all sorts. Also the best vegan cheesecake I’ve ever had and one of the nicest waiters we had (can’t remember the name!) 10/10More
We love The Red Lion…the environment, service and garden are awesome. Perfect for whiling away the hours. Our server (annoyingly forgot to ask her name!) was so friendly and helpful - we had a noisy and easily bored two year old - and a credit...to the pub. The food is ok…I think perhaps it has improved over the last year or so but it’s not wow. It’s what I’d call decent gastro pub food.More
Not really much to say apart from amazing. The food was simply delicious, I can honestly say I have never had liver and bacon any better anywhere and the service was spot on.
Went for dinner with a couple of friends and had an amazing...evening, Will certainly be back.
Enjoyed an excellent meal on a busy Monday evening. The menu is extensive, plus specials, the food quality very good and the service excellent. We had a sharing starter, a main each plus Cheese & Biscuits for one all washed down with two good bottles...of wine. The cost excluding tip just under £100 which we felt was good value. Would recommend.More
