This was my third trip to the Ashby. There is a new chef who unfortunately has moved the menu from delicious, seasonal luscious fare to fairly tasty, but overly complicated "cuisine". The haddock was definitely over-salted, but overall the food from the tasting menu tasted...More

What a shame that The Ashby Inn is still trying to find its way back to the top of Virginia culinary scene after several years of struggling through mediocre help in the kitchen. We had so much hope that the newest chef was going to...More

I went here for my birthday this past weekend. It is a bit of a hike from the DC area, but well worth the travel time. The food was spectacular, Chef Tom Whitaker does an amazing menu that will leave you wanting more. We had...More

I stopped at The Ashby Inn during a bike ride over Mt. Weather. What a gem of a place!! No need to go to Paris, France, for a romantic dining experience with just about the most friendly staff you'll find. Very nice! Will return!

This is a charming inn with different rooms for dining inside and out. We dined inside and loved the French posters on the wall. The food was beautifully presented with lots of amuse bouches. This chef knows what he is doing. I of course want...More

I loved the old chef, but there's a terrific new chef, Tom Whitaker now who did a fantastic tasting menu for us. The sommelier paired wines and when I said my palate didn't jibe with the "crispness" of some Virginia whites, he found a perfect...More

We had a wonderful anniversary dinner here while guests at the inn. The sommelier went out of his way to let us taste glasses of wine we might enjoy, and the service and setting were romantic and special.

It's a nice place. We tend to dress up for an occasion like a dinner at the Ashby. I wore slacks, a summer sport coat, and tie. Cathie wore a nice lightweight outfit. It's a personal choice. However, "business casual... More
