Set in the Tavern style of the day still a nice place to find lunch. We had the Beefsteak Sandwich and Pulled BBQ Sandwich. Can say the Iced tea and Lemonade are a little pricey but rest of the bill was normal for the area....More

My husband and I spent a single night in Williamsburg last week on our way back from the Outer Banks, and luckily it was the same night as the 18th Century Pig Roast. We'd come to an 18th Century Pig Roast at Shield's Tavern 2...More

Shields Tavern is in an historic tavern building in Colonial Williamsburg. The servers are dressed in period costume and are efficient. The dishes we has for lunch (meat pies and such) were authentic and deliscious. All-in-all a delightful lunch.

Dining at Shield's is stepping back in time. What ambiance. What food. A great selection for adopt tastes. Generous children's menu. A very pleasant respite from a days partaking of all that Colonial Williamsburg has to offer. What great service on top of everything else.

My overall impression of the Colonial Williamsburg restaurants is that one goes for the experience of eating in a historic tavern, not for the gourmet fare. The food is okay, but nothing to rave about. The prices are on the high side, but you are...More

Enjoyed the dinner theater very much. Food was just "so-so" but the waitstaff and the actors made the evening memorable. Lots of fun.

When we booked our trip to Colonial Williamsburg, we were told it would be difficult to find dinner on site and that we should make a reservation. We made one at Shields tavern under the impression there was a bit of 'Colonial-Themed entertainment' included with...More

I ate here for the first time because my go to place, Kings Arms was closed. I was surprised when I looked at the menu because it was very inexpensive for dinner, or so I thought. My waitress, Kimberly, recommended the Potted dinner accompanied by...More

The staff are fantastic but the menu choice is small and not that brilliant quality for the money. I know it's in a destination but even so.

I tried the chicken with vegetables on the side. My friend enjoyed the vegetarian plate with a portabella mushroom and she liked it. This was my least favorite restaurant in Colonial Williamsburg due to the food choices but the service was good.

In the restored area you don't see many animals unless service animals. Not sure if there is a real ban on them but the best thing to do would be to contact CWB information center and they could definitely tell you.
