Had the fish boil twice within 3 days. First visit on that Wednesday - food & service was adequate. Food was hot & moist;was able to get seconds; dessert was Cherry Pie Ala Mode.
Friday night was a different story. Fish was cold & dry!...If this fish just came in from the boil, it should have been steaming hot & moist. Our fish was so dry I could swear it was left overs from the previous seating's fish boil Almost too salty to eat, as well.! It was important to mention this to the people at the front desk, where they ask you how everything was. No offer of a reduced bill, or even an apology. The topper was that we each ordered a glass of Cherry Blossom wine. The orange card on the table stated a glass was $7.50 each, but when the bill came, the waitress said the "computer says it's $8.50 a glass, & that the prices have changed". If that's the case, take down the price list & change it. Nothing like false advertising. So, after years of coming to White Gull Inn for fish boils, we won't be coming back.More
We had a late breakfast at the White Gull Inn and it was as good as usual! Three of us had their exceptional corned beef hash( the best any of us have eve had) with their home made Swedish limpa bread. It was really delicious....The cherry pancakes were also wonderful! Our server was a delight and excellent!More
This is our 4th time in Fish Creek and finally went to a fish boil at the White Gull Inn. I had always been kind of dubious about fish boils, somehow always thought the taste would be too bland. Turned out the fish, although looking...kind of plain - it's a white fish they use - was actually very tasty and full of flavor. Prior to the dinner guests will sit in the outside courtyard for a presentation and watch the fish being boiled over a fire. It's a very fun experience. I'm glad we finally did it. Dining is indoors only, as the outdoor tables are all used for the fish boil demo.More
First time visitors should treat themselves to the Door County tradition of fish boils here at this clean and classy location. The staff do a good job of boning the fish for you and everything tasted great.
Visited White Gull Inn 25-30 years just for Fish boil - stayed elsewhere. The property is quite historic and gorgeous. Take the time to walk around inside and out. Beautiful Inn. Read the information on the paper menu about history.
This time (July 2021) we...had breakfast including the luscious stuffed cherry French Toast. All breakfast items were tasty and filling. The wait was a good hour but worth it. We walked down to the waterfront and around the Inn. A Fish Boil is good but breakfast here, Old Post Office.....is much better. Eggs, bacon/saisgae and pancakes, waffles or French Toast with cherries is a game changer.More
For my money, this is America's best breakfast. This surpassed all of my expectations. Want to go back next time I'm in Door County. Also, the waitstaff were true professionals. They worked so hard, constantly responding to guests, and kept our meal running smoothly despite...the large crowd vying for their turn to be seated and served. Could not have been any happier with our White Gull Inn breakfast.More
BEST FISH BOIL, ever!! We absolutely loved the fish boil. Neil did an excellent job telling the history of fish boils in Door County. We’ve been to other fish boils which are good, but this one is by far the best. Plus, you get a...second plate and it’s deboned. After the fish boil, head down to sunset park for an amazing view of a door county sunset. Make sure to make reservations in advance as it fills up fast.
We also had breakfast at White Gull Inn, the stuffed French toast is outstanding. Can’t wait to go back someday.More
