My wife and I were looking for a good meal, and we ended up seated at the bar. Our bartender, Dave, provided truly excellent service and some great wine recommendations. From the parsnip soup and mussel appetizers to the main course, everything was superb. Next time, I would get reservations, because any place with no seating at 5 pm is... More

Recently dined here for a partners birthday celebration. First impressions of the place....great ambiance! Low volume music in the background, subdued lighting, quaint tables with little lamps. I had told the waiter about it being a birthday and he did a great job making for a special evening. French onion soup, one of the best I've had. Bacon wrapped veal... More

Real nice bistro restaurant that was not too expensive. We actually went with our two kids and they had children's menus as well. I had the hanger steak and French onion soup. The food was great and the atmosphere was nice. Good crowd. We arrived early, so we got in and out before the larger crowd. Julianna did a nice... More

Causal with some elegance and some true-french nuances. Adrianne (sp?) took good care of us. Very nice by-the-glass wine list; tilted toward but not limited to France.

Cozy French restaurant in the Third Ward. French standards like coq au vin, escargot, duck confit are done well. Romantic spot.

I love this place, and try to get here whenever I'm in town. Baguettes are fresh baked, and are just as I remember them from when I lived in Europe . . . brings back lots of memories. Have had excellent sandwiches, escargots, the classic bistro steak and frittes. Have also had very good fish there. Intimate setting, nice bar,... More

The best appetizer was House-Smoked Salmon Carpaccio. Highly recommend. We each had a different dish for dinner and Coq au Vin, and Veal Meatloaf were good. However, the Organic Chicken breast salad was not good at all. I ended up returning this, and one would think how can you not like a salad?! Well it had some mix of herbs... More

It was exactly what we were hoping for on a cooler than average, rainy summer night. The intent was a casual stop for dessert and that was accomplished with an excellent creme brulee and dessert wine. The environment was very appealing (maybe it was just the combination of people, weather, and street lights glimmering in the rain) but it made... More

We visited Coquette during the week and were surprised to find it relatively empty. Located in a historic building in Milwaukee's revitalized Third Ward, this is often not the case. The food (Duck confit & a soup, salad, quiche plate) was excellent. The service was prompt & the attractive waitress was attentive but not intrusive, a difficult balance. Coquette is... More

I loved this cafe. It's set inside of a building shared with other businesses but you can feel the history inside. I went there for lunch and had a tasty Monsieur Croquette (open face ham and gruyere cheese). I can't wait to go back.
