I love this place, and try to get here whenever I'm in town. Baguettes are fresh baked, and are just as I remember them from when I lived in Europe . . . brings back lots of memories. Have had excellent sandwiches, escargots, the classic bistro steak and frittes. Have also had very good fish there. Intimate setting, nice bar,... More

The best appetizer was House-Smoked Salmon Carpaccio. Highly recommend. We each had a different dish for dinner and Coq au Vin, and Veal Meatloaf were good. However, the Organic Chicken breast salad was not good at all. I ended up returning this, and one would think how can you not like a salad?! Well it had some mix of herbs... More

It was exactly what we were hoping for on a cooler than average, rainy summer night. The intent was a casual stop for dessert and that was accomplished with an excellent creme brulee and dessert wine. The environment was very appealing (maybe it was just the combination of people, weather, and street lights glimmering in the rain) but it made... More

We visited Coquette during the week and were surprised to find it relatively empty. Located in a historic building in Milwaukee's revitalized Third Ward, this is often not the case. The food (Duck confit & a soup, salad, quiche plate) was excellent. The service was prompt & the attractive waitress was attentive but not intrusive, a difficult balance. Coquette is... More

I loved this cafe. It's set inside of a building shared with other businesses but you can feel the history inside. I went there for lunch and had a tasty Monsieur Croquette (open face ham and gruyere cheese). I can't wait to go back.

Coquette is one of our favorite restaurants downtown. The food and service are consistently excellent. And I can get an elder-flower Manhattan, which I have not found anywhere else.

Our group had a great meal here on a Saturday night in October. We had the Plateau de Fromages which had very generous portions of wonderful cheeses. I ordered the Coq au Vin (highly recommended). Everyone was happy with their meals - particularly my sister who ordered the House-Made Pumpkin Ravioli which looked incredible! I would dine here again if... More

This was my second time there. The previous meal was a business lunch. We walked in without a reservation and grabbed a window seat. We could not decide between a sandwich du jour and a Nicoise Salad so my mother and I ordered both and split them. No hassles and the presentation was terrific. Now my husband wants to visit.

The restaurant is in the near south downtown Milwaukee neighborhood. The atmosphere is fun and the staff welcoming. The menu is relatively diverse, however, the quality of each dish was exceptional. Flavors were complex and satisfying. The desserts and cheese plate were very good. The wine selection is nice with good availability of microbrews and cool cocktails.

If you are here for breakfast or brunch, the hanger steak and eggs are amazing! Great food and extremely friendly waitstaff! We loved it!
