We were in Milwaukee at the end of September and the wife wanted to go out for an authentic Wisconsin Friday night fish fry. The reviews led us to Kegel's, although we were concerned about how crowded it would be. Sure enough, it was crowded...More

Great local restaurant from 1924. We went on Friday night at 5:15 because they said that we would get in quicker. We waited 1 1/2 hours. Place was packed out. It is definitely a local neighborhood place that has a loyal following. Typical German fare...More

I had the Wiener Schnitzel and initially ordered spaetzle and red cabbage as sides (I love red cabbage). After tasting the German potato salad that my colleague ordered, I ordered an additional side of German potato salad. The wait staff was friendly and provided just...More

We saw the menu and had to try it. No disappointment at all. The meal for lunch was huge. I could not decide between perch and pike, so the gave me both, with all the sides. German potato salad was great, service was good. Very...More

I had the opportunity to dine at Kegel's, and it was one of the best German meals that I've ever had. This classic restaurant is a throwback to better times, with traditional German decor and hospitality. The small bar is welcoming, and the staff makes...More

Don't expect a quiet, leisurely meal at Kegel's. Waitresses go at a frenetic pace and with many people crammed into one big old room, the atmosphere is busy and loud. The food here is also old world. This is not a place where you will...More

I've only been to Kegels on Friday's when it is noisy. Might be better on a Saturday. I heard that the duck is wonderful.

Definitely. I was there for lunch and it wasn't busy, but all reviews say it's tough to get in for dinner -especially on Fridays. Above average food but not the best value, in my opinion.

Located in the heart of Milwaukee's West Allis neighborhood, Kegel's Inn serves up the most authentic German fare in the area. Inside you'll find a warm atmosphere, friendly service and one of the most beautiful beer halls in the country. With incredible murals, leaded glass, and heavy wooden beams, one can almost hear rounds of "Du Bist Mein Herzen" reverberating in the Bierstube. Since 1924, Kegel's Inn has been the locals' go-to destination for authentic German cuisine and continues to top the charts as one of the best places to catch a Friday Fish Fry in Milwaukee. At Kegel's Inn, everything is made from time honored traditional recipes. Like the rest of our establishment, things haven't changed much since we first opened our doors in 1924. Sure, there may be some new faces, but our steadfast commitment to our customers and our family values keeps our atmosphere warm and inviting, our service fast and neighborly, and our delicious food in accordance to the highest standards of our family lineage. At the end of the day, our goal is that your experience gets better every time you come in. Danke Schön!
