We drove up to Hooker's Resort for the All You Can Eat Fish Fry from Madison Friday night. It was so worth the drive. Hooker's is a grill your own steak house. In addition to huge steaks, they have fish and chicken. It is grill your own, so if you want someone to grill it for you, this is not... More

I was quite surprised to see the average rating for the restaurant, some people complaining about the fact that you have to cook your own meat. that's the whole point though! it's a really nice social time with a beer chatting around the fire. The atmosphere is great, the service and food are very good.

Hadn't been to Hooker's in years. Lots of potential on the Wis. River. The best part was the server Amanda. However, she took forever to refill our drinks. Second best, one of us had a view of the river. The other had a view of a weird closet(?) with a dirty cement floor, a stack of white five gallon pails... More

You can cook your own steak on the open grill or you can have them cook it for you. Go early if you can or the resteraunts fills up fast. Doesn't seem like they have enough waitresses to come and check on you.

On August 1st two of my close friends met at Hooker's Restaurant and Bar, affiliated with Hooker's Resort. The day was just beautiful, low 80's with nice puffy clouds. The view to the Wisconsin River less than 100 yards away was wonderful. For lunch, only the bar is open but with a nice lunch menu! I chose the Walleye ($7.99)... More

There were six of us and a three year old. I went to visit my sister and we decided we needed a fish fry. I hadn't been to Hookers since my parents were alive back in the 90 's. The special was all you can eat of fried cod, clam strips or frog legs. Start with one, order a different... More

A great place to head to for a great dinner. Wonderful steak choices. Fun with family and friends to grill out together. Friday Fish fry is good too!

Id recommend eating in the bar which has a different menu than the restaurant. The "special" steak sandwich in the bar is a 5 the rest of the bar menu is a 4. I'd say the restaurant food and menu brought the rating down to a 3 overall.

The reason I go out to eat is to have someone else prepare my meal. Here you have to cook your own steak, salmon, or chicken and there are no options of ordering anything else...

No menus, but lots of good options from delicious shrimp and baked potato to a cooler full of grill-your-own steaks. We had two female bartenders who served really good Old Fashions which was a much more pleasant experience than some of the earlier reviews. I had to try the pumpkin dessert--and it was a highlight to share with our entire... More
