This is the place that my 22 year old daughter HAS TO COME to every year to celebrate her birthday. We go for dinner, not the shopping. Although the gift shop is a perfect way to pass the time, in case you have to wait to be seated. The sweedish pancakes, the sweedish meatballs, the raspberry pie, the open face... More

This was my favorite place for breakfast as a kid when we vacationed in Door County. Loved the bldg decor and unique feature of goats on roof eating the grass. Pretty outside also with flowers. I always had the sweedish pancakes. To this date nearly 30 years later have not found any better then here. Been way to long since... More

The Swedish pancakes were very good.. I had them topped with fresh strawberries. They have lingenberries on the table. Maple syrup from a local supplier.

After literally a lifetime of visits, I have to say this is much more than a tourist stop. This has been around for 50+ years. The restaurant was started by Al Johnson who had the current log restaurant hand crafted in Norway. The Swedish pancakes and meatballs and the ever present lingonberries are a must try. Other food options especially... More

On most Wednesday and Friday mornings during the cold winter months in Door County, my routine includes breakfast at Al Johnson's restaurant in Sister Bay. I meet with several older gentlemen to experience the excellent cuisine at Al's and to expound upon the meaning of life. While our discussions may degenerate as the morning wears on as the waitresses will... More

My wife and I visited Al's on Saturday February 11, 2017 at 1:30 PM, she had the Swedish pancakes and loved them as usual, I had a bowl of chili and vomited and had diarrhea 12.5 hours later. Please be careful cook staff.

Large menu with a lot of options. The Tomato dill soup was great! Also had meatballs and the roast beef sandwich. Bread pudding was okay.

Wonderful authentic Swedish pancakes with lingonberry jam. Their egg and pancake special is worth the drive up to Sister Bay and worth the wait in line. Go during the off season for a more relaxed visit. Great little gift shop if you do have a wait. Swedish and Norwegian gifts, clothing and chachkes. Prices are reasonable.

This place is an iconic spot in Door County. Don't let the wait times keep you away - they have a nice shop you can visit while waiting for a table. It can be a bit crowded, but it is a pretty place, and they do have good service. The famous Swedish pancakes are wonderful with lingonberry jam. They do... More
