We have been Big Island visitors for over 30 years, but had never made Here for dinner. It is an'Island Local' Classic. The atmosphere is old Hawaii. The service was friendly, Efficient and knowledgeable. The menu was diverse with local Flavor and the food was spectacular. Seriously, the best dinner we've ever had in Hawaii. Two nightly settings, so take... More

The town is small but Hawaii has good food so we thought we would give this quaint place a try. We enjoyed the Vietnamese Salad and the BBQ beef sandwich. Good service, clean, open feel.

We stopped here for lunch one day as we were touring the Island. It was right after the holidays so it was a slow time on the island. The restaurant is somewhat of a landmark being in business for 25 years. It has somewhat of an island dive appearance when you walk in-actually not on the beach but in a... More

Well, phooey again. I wonder what 'not worrying luv' had to eat? He or she gives BY FAR mostly 5 star reviews so I feel like we really blew this one. :-( Darn.... worth a stop for barely acceptable, average food? :-( Oh well, it sets the bar really low, I guess. More

My husband and I stopped stopped in to the Bamboo restaurant on January 4th 2017 for lunch. We were in the area for the Flumin Kohala attraction and needed a place for a quick lunch before our scheduled departure. The outside looks like an old General store. Inside was a funky restaurant and small gallery. We shared chicken potstickers which... More

Have had several great meals here during our travels up to the North Kohala coast. The restaurant offers consistently excellent food and great service in a beautifully restored building. Highly recommended!

In Kohala there are not too many restaurants, and the Bamboo in Hawi is a very nice and colorful one. It used to be a grocery store, which you still can see a little, which nicely adds to the atmosphere. Waitresses very friendly and efficient. Food was excellent, and it was served quickly. My wife had a rich shrimp dinner,... More

Albrecht! Your teriyaki chicken dinner was $17.95! Your wife's shrimp was $29.95 ...what the heck? There is ONE item on a FIVE PAGE menu that is more than $35! (That is a FULL rack of ribs that most people share.). You know, if you think our dinners are between $35-40 like the hotels and other restaurants, maybe we should raise... More

This wonderful restaurant is a must - do for any trip to the big island of more than 1 day. Approaching 24 years in business, and for good reason, this atmosphere-rich dinner haunt in a former grocery store is always a pleasure. The food is ono delicious. Though the selection is not large, there is something for everyone including a... More

We drove here to try something new and we really happy with our choice! The restaurant was packed and the service was very friendly. The restaurant was super busy and they had a lot of fun drinks on the menu. They even have a really cute store and gallery at the restaurant. We would definitely make the drive to to... More

After a failed dinner that I reviewed back in March due to a mistake made by putting way too much mustard in the Caesar salad dressing, which the owner actually admitted to, I decided to give them a second chance. Pros: This restaurant has a lovely, casual, funky island ambience. Everyone who works there is friendly and wants you to... More

Right again, Susanna! We have bright, vibrant, local, organic tomatoes for nine months of the year, but in winter it is "too cold" to grow them. Our winter tomatoes come from ALASKA! Ha, no, not really, it's California. But it's embarrassing to have to serve them when compared to our own beautiful, tasty tomatoes from March-November. Do you have a... More
