Sushi Rock in Hawi on the north shore of the Big Island has a funky-hippy small town Hawaiian atmosphere. Restroom? Grab the key, go out the front door and turn left, go down the alley, and turn left at the back of the building , and it's next to the kitchen door. You'll find highly creative sushi rolls here such... More

We were there last night for my friend's birthday. It was honestly one of the best meals I've had in recent memory. We just happened upon the place after having an adventure trip on the abandoned sugar cane plantation water flumes At first the town seemed a little dilapidated but after looking in the galleries and shops there is a... Our favorite lunch/dinner spot on the Big Island! Great food and service in a quirky, fun town. Lots of options whether you eat sushi or not, but the sushi is great. Try the noodles and the sweet potato cheesecake. Great Mai Tai and view from the outside seating. This restaurant was one of the reasons for our trip!

After being seated about 7:30 we were looking through the extensive menu trying to decide on our sushi, the waiter came over and stated it was last call to order and we better hurry up and decide.......this was at 7:45. They were open until 8? We hurriedly ordered without even getting to look at the entries on the menu. The... More

While driving to Waipi'o Valley, our group stopped at Sushi Rock and Trio. Wow! Outstanding food, fresh fish in a historic atmosphere. The sushi rolls were fantastic, heavy with fresh fish and light on rice. The appetizers were fantastic, especially the fish cakes and mushroom poppers. We will be back for sure!

We dropped in for a snack while visiting the village of Hawi. We know sushi can be very good on the islands but this was exceptional. I inquired about a Poke Bowl as there wasn't one on the menu , the sushi chef went out of his way to prepare one for me. Boy what a treat. Our party also... More

Food and service were a 10. Atmosphere, aside from being a tad dirty is an 8. Cool place with great art. Live on the edge and try the chef's special.

We are living close by now so we don't go as often as we used to when we were just visiting and then building our new home, but I am always amazed at the consistency of the quality of food offered -- always fresh and delicious. Peter, the owner, prides himself in serving local grass fed beef, fresh caught local... More
