I was a bit worried about eating here with my daughter whose palate is very conservative, to say the least. However, even she was happy with the falafel and fries. I had the ahi curry-- delicious! The menu has a bit of everything-- Hawaiian, Japanese, Indian, Middle-eastern. It can be busy and hectic at lunch, so if you want a... More

From the outside and even after you step inside you might wonder what kind of place you've gone into. Don't be fooled by the look of the place. We stopped in and ordered the lunch special, Japanese chicken curry, and a Ahi pita. The price seemed reasonable, but after we got our food we realized the price was great. The... More

This restaurant will blow your mind. From the outside and even after you step inside you might think what kind of place is this. It looks like something out of a 1950's movie but don't be fooled by the look of the place. The food is first rate and very reasonable. I don't look at Hilo as a place to... More

We had such a great lunch here--I had a falafel pita and my husband had a don plate with tempura vegetables and rice. Yes, they have both! The food was tasty and fresh (best salad I've had since we've been here), the server was great (just found out she's going to be a grandma and shared the great news with... More

We stopped in and ordered the lunch special-- Japanese chicken curry. The price seemed good, but after we got our food the price seemed great!!! The first part was a huge salad with a homemade dressing that was to die for. There were several kinds of veggies in the salad, plus chick peas and sprouts... all extremely fresh. Then we... More

This is in a little strip mall/touristy type of are in Hilo and it was so tiny. We walked past it and then turned around decided to go in. We had such a good meal. The salad tasted nice and fresh, and the service was good. We had katsu chicken, fried shrimp, and teriyaki chicken plates. Don't let this place's... More

The Ahi Don was great. An unassuming place right on the main drag in downtown Hilo. We were looking for a good lunch and had no idea. Googled local place to have lunch and Paku Paku came up. Saw a few of the dishes and said that looks really good. Looked like the locals went there so we parked and... More

This is a little walk in restaurant recommended by a local. My $12 lunch was out of sight. I had a lamb pita with a side salad. I could have licked my plate. My companions agreed. This place has no atmosphere, but I would go there again in a second.

This restaurant is a small hole in the wall with only a few tables. We were a party of 6 and they were going to separate our party into a table for 4 and another for 2. We insisted that we could all fit comfortably around the one larger table they have and it worked just fine! The service was... More

I love it at Puka. I reccomend it to anyone who is willing to try something different. It's like a little whole in the wall with the best food that tastes fresh! I love Tuesdays with their chicken katsu burger special. I can't get enough of it. Plus the bentos to go are amazing.
