What a cute little corner restaurant! We were exploring the area and decided to check out this hidden gem. There are plenty of homemade, comfort foods to pick from. The food was wonderful and the service was awesome. I'm so glad we stopped!

Stopped in here after checking the menu at other restaurants, nice selection of our kind of food, the chicken and French dip were excellent, fries were great too. Our server was nice, service was relatively quick, and Grandma brought us fresh baked rolls to munch...on while we were waiting. There is no real reason to be in Honokaa other than being a tourist, but if you are, this is a great stop for lunch.More
If you are looking for 'down home" Hawaiian cooking, this is the place. They have the usual burgers and sandwiches but also local specialties that you won't find on the mainland. The two of us had lunch and very much enjoyed it. Casual and friendly....We had lunch here a few years ago and enjoyed it just as much the second visit. Honokaa is worth a visit on its own with information boards here and there explaining the history of the town and individual buildings. A pleasant place for a stroll.More
Our ATV company recommended this place for lunch. We were a party of 12 . Food was good, but took a long, long time in coming. Unfortunately, 4 of us were finished when, finally, the 12 year old in our party got his food. Gramma...came out and visited each table while we were there. Disappointed that you had to order the cobbler a day in advance, so NO cobbler for the 12 of us. Food was good, tho.More
We stopped by as we were in town and there wasn’t much to chose from so we entered and walked to the counter, ordered off the electronic menu paid our total, were given a number to place on our table and waited for the food....We ordered a Beer battered Shrimp and Chips and a Mixed Plate #1 (both $17) and 2 large Cokes ($5.60). Total with tax was $40.66. The food was delivered in about 20 minutes and was piping hot and very tasty. The Beer Battered Shrimp were exceptionally large, almost like prawns. Both meal portions were very large. Counter staff were very friendly and even Gramma came and talked to us while we were eating. Worth stopping in for a bite when in Honoka’aMore
Planned on going to Kula Bistro for breakfast but it was closed due to staff shortage. Decided to continue on to Maui Winery and stumbled across Gramma’s and looked cute so we though we’d try it. So disappointing, both my husband and I ordered the...omelet with cheese and Portuguese sausage served with English muffin. The omelet was super greasy, way too much cheese and neither of us cared for the sausage. Everything tasted like it was cooked on a dirty grill. Patio was dirty and the chairs were super uncomfortable. I don’t like to give a bad review with everything just opening up again.More
Stopped by on a whim when quite hungry after hiking. We got some grilled cheese as well as fish & chips. It took 20+ minutes before it was ready but turns out it was well worth the wait. Portion size was excellent. Incredibly tasty from...all aspects. Just the right sides and sauces. Easy take-away lunch boxes. Turned out to be a brilliant choice and well worth a return if in the area. As a bonus, they had a very interesting historical flyer about the town that made the wait go by much quicker.More
Our family group enjoyed a leisurely breakfast during a visit to the island...always a delight. This is a particularly fun casual destination with a lot of interaction with our servers
Delicious quality food. Small, friendly cafe. Food was plentiful and good quality. Service very friendly
Stopped at Gramma's Kitchen in Honokaa or great lunch. Large selection on menu. Food was fresh and I had to take part of my lunch home because it was too much. Recommend i you are in Honokaa to stop there for meal. Service was fast...and friendly. We had to wait 20 minutes for out table, which gave us time to see the town.More
We stopped here for a quick lunch after our tour with Waipio Valley Shuttle. Luckily we made it here right before they closed at 3p.m. as they close 1/2 hour before the actually closing time. Gramma's Kitchen is located right at the corner and there...is plenty of free parking on the street. It is a nice local restaurant in Honakaa that serves absolute huge portions. Inside, there are a lot of signs that depict a country kitchen theme and Humpty Dumpty greets you as you come in. I had a lunch special-- the Special Opakapaka sweet grill (local red snapper) fillets (6 large ones) tossed in a large salad for only $14.95. It was a true delicious filler!! Well worth it!! Service is great and we were served promptly upon entering and they did not rush us out despite it was close to closing time. Highly recommended local place to eat in Honokaa while heading down to Hilo or finish visiting Waipio.More
We had been to Honokaa in 2015 and wanted to return as I was not feeling well back then. We had a nice time shopping around and then went for lunch at Gramma's Kitchen. It was good old fashioned food and we enjoyed our burgers,...onion rings, salads and BLT's. We pinned our place SF Bay area on the USA map and enjoyed talking with our servers Alexis and Kendra. We also very much enjoyed talking with a local couple who were sitting across the table from us. They shared what they were going to order and showed us their plates when the food came and we showed ours. They told us to go see the Waipio lookout before we left the area which we also enjoyed. We did use the bathroom before we left as I earlier in our visit needed to find a public toilet and ended up using the Food Market's toilet. Note: This place has very limited seating so be prepared to either wait or if you can share and talk with other people local or other travelers I think that was part of it's charm. After I got home I found out from my DNA I am part Portuguese evidently Gramma was a Portuguese lady.More
What a hidden gem! Our hotel local expert - who’s from Honuka’a herself - recommended Gramma’s Kitchen, which served us the best Snow Crab dish and Portuguese dish with hash browns - it was super delicious! The staff was friendly, the service quick and the...location itself was very “old-stylish” - of course we left a pin at the world map of customers!More
Me,my sister, her boyfriend,my parents went there for breakfast, the server was nice,I had the Loco Moco plate
My local peeps on da island love this spot, especially my friends mom. She loves the Portuguese influence of the food. Not my typical diner, but the cheese omlate was good. The locals love it, take their opinion, there's always a long wait when it...opens!More
