Ishihara has been an institution in Waimea for over 80 years. And they're not resting on their laurels: they still dish out great poke. I went there with my brother; and ordered a half pound of original ahi poke, and another half-pound of mussel poke. The two of them combined were under $10. Bit of a line at the back... More

Ishihara Market was everything and more and kept us well fed during our stay in Waimea. We loved the fresh poke (my favorite was Kimchi Sea Snails) and the availability of so many locally produced items like Kauai grown grass fed beef and pork. We cooked an entire 5-course Xmas eve meal for our family with all local, fresh ingredients... More

We stopped by Ishihara after driving up to Waimea Canyon. We opted for a half pound of ahi tuna each and got rice balls on the side. The fish was fresh and delicious, which we ate at picnic tables outside while discovering Waimea.

This market was recommended by our snorkel guide as one of the best places to eat on the island. Our group tried several different pokes and the seaweed salad and enjoyed them all. It was also the least expensive place we ate which was a bonus. However, the jury is still out on the non-seafood items as the chicken teriyaki... More

Stopped in here twice to pick up lunch. It is a supermarket with a great Hawaiian deli. Several hot lunch plates from teriyaki chicken to corned beef and cabbage. Specials change daily. Pre-made sushi and a lots of cold options like seaweed salad, about a dozen different types of poke and fresh seafood. An overall fun experience and very reasonable... More

Since we planned to do sightseeing all day, we decided to stop at Ishihara market to grab some lunch. The selection of Poke and other products has been fantastic, so we've purchased Mac Salad, Wasabi-Ahi-Poke, spicy-Shrimp-Poke, spicy-Lobster-Poke (also here it was crawfish Poke) and stunning raw Korean crabs (US$ 44). We then drove up the 550 to the Weimea Canyon... More

After reading review we stopped here for lunch after Waimea Canyon drive. It is in a super market, so don't be discouraged, just head straight back until you see the deil service style counter. We ordered poke and a lunch box, it was amazing. Best poke we had on our honeymoon. Grab some drinks on your way out and find... More

At the recommendation of a friend, we stopped at this market to get poke, chips & beer - best call ever! Grab our goodies & went to Kekaha Beach where they had covered picnic tables to enjoy. The Poke variety was amazing & the plate lunch offering looked good too.

Located on the scenic Kaumuali Hwy 50, Ishihara Market (not really a restaurant) is a great quick stop near Waimea, Kauai. We stopped here on the way to PMRF and found a wonderful array of fresh seafood, including a large array of delicious Poke. We ran out of time to try all the different Poke types. There is also a... If you're looking for bagels, blintzes or brisket you're in the wrong place. But if you're looking for freshly made poke of many varieties you came to the right place. The deli counter in the back is staffed with knowledgeable help who are only too happy to offer customers a taste of the daily fare. The poke is very good... More
